Lady J Huston is from St. Louis, MO & is respected as one of the most spectacular entertainers on the music scene. She is renowned for her captivating 4-octave Vocals, Trumpet, Compositions, and mesmerizing stage presence.

 

In 2023, she placed or received multiple awards from her "Groove Me Baby" album including: Winner, Blues Blast Magazine Music Award "New Artist Debut Album", the NITA Award "Blues", Hollywood Independent Music Award  "Blues Nominee", Global Music Award "Bronze Medal", International Songwriter's Competition "Semi-Finalist".

 

Lady J resided in Las Vegas, NV for 25 years. Winning a series of Las Vegas Black Music Awards (2009 - 2013) she began her reign as the "Las Vegas Queen of Blues". Her band was inducted into the LV Entertainment Consumer’s Exchange Hall of Fame during her standing-room-only, farewell performance to return to St. Louis, MO.

 

After surviving a traumatic health crisis, Lady J returned to the stage in 2018 with the debut of "The Lady J Huston Show & Tribute to Albert King" at the National Blues Museum. This was in honor of King being her Blues mentor when at 18 years old she toured with him as Trumpeter, Vocalist (opening act), eventually becoming his Music Director.

Lady J Huston continues to soar with her "Groove Me Baby" album charting at #1 on the Roots Music Report in Soul Blues at its 2023 release. The album presents a great foundation of Soul Blues mixed with scat and trumpet solos seldom heard in the Blues. It's receiving rave reviews by music critics around the world. Lady J is very grateful for the beautiful response. She loves performing and engaging with the audience and appreciates all the fans & supporters of her music.

 

\\Education and Philanthropy//

Lady J graduated Valedictorian & voted Most Talented-Female at Central High School. Accepting academic & music scholarships, she majored in Music Theory/Composition, minored in multiple instruments & voice at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park (also while in high school), University of Kansas, & Howard University (Dean's List). She relocated to Los Angeles, CA, earning a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Redlands, CA. In other professions as: systems analyst, database & website administrator, & project controls engineer, she worked with subcontractors for the Department of Defense in Los Angeles and Department of Energy in Las Vegas receiving multiple outstanding achievement awards and certifications.

Lady J has another passion for family history and has achieved many accolades in her genealogical research which led to finding descendants of the slave masters, two O'Kelley brothers, of her enslaved gg-grandmother, Ellen Fisher. They have been featured on KSDK-TV (NBC), the St. Louis Post Dispatch, radio, multiple blogs and podcasts about the Black O'Kelleys, a term she penned for her family whose reunions began in the 1930s. Lady J and her mother, Loyce Pickens Huston (R.I.P.), have donated large collections of historical data and multimedia to the Missouri History Museum and Washington University Library Archives.
