At BESA, we understand the challenges that engineers face as they navigate the early stages of their careers. That's why we have created this group to provide a supportive community, and networking opportunities for those just starting out in the sector. Ryan Walton MInstR, Chair of the Network has said “It is a real honour and a great opportunity to work with my fellow young engineers through this exciting initiative,” he said. “We have a lot to offer the Association and the wider industry, but it is often hard for us to make our collective voice heard." “It can also be an intimidating experience for younger people to network with older, more experienced engineers, particularly when they are just finding their feet in the industry. The BESA #NextGen Network are a diverse group of professionals from a range of different backgrounds, working across the building engineering services sector in a variety of roles that support the industry. In a world where virtual meetings dominate, BESA colleagues from across the country came together for the first time since the pandemic for an engagement day at Old Mansion House! The day was focused on culture and offered insights from our Chief Executive, David Frise who updated us on the business, as well as a compelling talk by Past President Neil Brackenridge who shed light on the impact of the #BuildingSafetyAct for our sector. Above all, the day provided a refreshing opportunity for BESA colleagues to meet in person with one another, something that has been missed over the last few years. It was important for us to bring our team together, not only to network but also to get actively involved in discussions, share ideas, and celebrate all their hard work. BESA has been setting the standards for success for the last 120 years, and we couldn't do it without our team or our members driving positive change within the industry. We would like to thank everyone who attended for getting actively involved and making the day a success. We will certainly be doing this again; here's to the next one! 🥂

Yesterday, members of the #BESANextGen Network - Danielle Norfolk, Keegan Farrelly and Curtis Armstrong attended the BESA Engagement Day alongside their colleagues across the BESA Group. It was a great opportunity for them to network with colleagues from across the business, especially in a world where virtual meetings dominate, the day provided a refreshing opportunity to meet with colleagues face-to-face, share our perspective and experiences, and learn from our peers. The day was focused on culture, and offered insights from our Chief Executive, David Frise, who updated us on the business, as well as a compelling talk by Past President Neil Brackenridge, who shed light on the impact of the Building Safety Act for our sector. It really was a fantastic day for us and we were able to contribute to discussions with our colleagues, and share our ideas as the next generation of the building services industry.
