Since launching his U.S. Senate campaign in Wisconsin last week, Eric Hovde has repeatedly promised to unite the country. But he is set to speak alongside the divisive Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in March.

Three days after launching his campaign, the banking CEO released a social media post asking voters if they “are ready to be uniters and healers for our country.”

During his announcement speech last week, Hovde also condemned political partisanship that is “tearing families apart.”

“We can’t tackle these major problems we’re facing in this country without coming together,” Hovde said. “We need to come together as a people. We have to stop putting on the red jersey or putting on the blue jersey and competing against each other.”

Hovde and Greene are both slated to speak at the 2024 Lincoln Reagan fundraiser in Green Bay, Wis. on March 16, with Greene giving the keynote. In 2021, Greene debated whether America should have a “national divorce” between “red and blue states,” and she posted a controversial poll on her X account while the term “civil war” trended on the platform.

Earlier that year, the U.S. House of Representatives barred Greene from her committee assignments after past comments about wanting to execute Democrats like Hillary Clinton surfaced. Since joining Congress in 2021, Greene has promoted several unfounded and hateful conspiracy theories. Greene also openly identifies as a Christian Nationalist and has compared Democrats to Nazis.
