Celebrate National Sleep Awareness Month This Way In March

Following

Forgive me for sighing – yawn! – but I love a good sleep. In fact, I could win the Olympics of sleeping as I think my record for conking out is about 16 hours straight. And now, the travel industry has woken up to the fact that sleep tourism is a hot new trend. So, instead of visiting your hotel and destination and exploring, exploring, and exploring – there’s a LOT to be said for resting, relaxing and getting a few ZZZs. (Yawn – sorry, I’m dozing off as I write this…) Feeling rested and revived makes most people feel they can conquer the world, and sleep deprivation can lead to a host of problems. So get out your sleep masks and check out these two hotels.

Sleep tourism continues to gain momentum with National Sleep Awareness Month (March) and World Sleep Day (March 17) . Here are two luxury properties seeking to entice you with their sleep offerings.

Miraval Arizona | Tucson, AZ

Miraval Arizona's resident Sleep & Dream Specialist, Leah Ann Bolen, guides guests through intentionally curated workshops, activities, lectures, and meditation practices designed to support deep rest and overall-wellness. Signature experiences led by Bolen include Sleep Well/Rituals for Better Rest, which offers insight into fostering healthy sleep habits as a foundation for wellbeing and health and Awakening the Dream, a transformative workshop that opens guests’ eyes to the powerful meaning of dreams and to how to enhance, recall and connect with dreams for insight and inspiration. These exclusive offerings and services are intended to help guests rejuvenate and feel well-rested. Those looking to experience more restorative rest in their own homes can also create Miraval moments with the signature bedding collection. If anyone can vouch for the bed at Miraval – it’s me. I stayed at Miraval on assignment, in Lenox, Mass., about two years ago, and the bed was so magnificent, so comfy, so dreamy – I still think about it and look forward to getting under the covers there again! It was THAT terrific.

Best Room in House: The Gratitude Retreat, a three-bedroom suite that combines comfort and privacy for the ultimate Miraval experience, boasting a private infinity edge reflection pool, powder and laundry room, a gourmet kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, an expansive living room with floor-to-ceiling retractable glass doors and a large outdoor patio. The master suite is fit with a fire feature, walk-in closet, seating area, spa bathroom with free-standing soaking tub, indoor to outdoor shower and double sinks – along with two other bedroom suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom.

The Rittenhouse | Philadelphia

In addition to being the pinnacle of urban luxury, The Rittenhouse is a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation and in honor of National Sleep Awareness Month, the property has introduced its Rest and Renew Package. Inclusive of a 90-minute sleep massage at The Rittenhouse Spa & Club with a nighttime self-care bag with sleep gummies, a sleep mask and lavender tea bag; a pillow butler menu for optimal comfort; a Rittenhouse playlist with soothing sounds and guided sleep meditation and a night journal to wind town, the package helps guests indulge in thoughtful self-care.

Best Room in House: The Presidential Suite, an elegant, luxurious escape in the heart of Rittenhouse Square, the superbly appointed suite includes a marble foyer with guest powder room, a sprawling living room featuring a plush bed, his and hers closets, and a master marble bathroom with an oversized bathtub and glass-enclosed shower.

Pleasant dreams! (And bring your own teddy bear...)
