The Admiral Nimitz Foundation
The Admiral Nimitz Foundation was established in 1971 as a 501 (c)(3) to provide additional development funding for the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Naval Museum, a museum honoring Fredericksburg’s native son and Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces, Pacific Ocean Area.
The Foundation's Mission
Operate and support the State-owned Museum experience through its extensive collection, to educate and inspire present and future generations about WW-II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the continuing global relevance of its lessons.
Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz
Far from the Pacific Ocean and the islands where much of World War II in the Pacific was fought, Fredericksburg, Texas seems an unlikely location for the National Museum of the Pacific War. The story of the Museum’s origin began here on Main Street in February 1885 when Chester William Nimitz was born. Who knew Nimitz would someday lead the Combined U.S. Force to victory over Japan in WWII?
