Windsor Campus Expansion Construction Update

Construction is underway on the $18 million expansion of the Aims Windsor Campus. The project adds an academic building and a simulated city to the Public Safety Institute (PSI) training yard.

Gateway Building Under Construction on Windsor Campus

Construction began in March of 2022 on the Windsor Campus expansion project. The anticipated open date for the new facilities is Spring 2024. The Aims Windsor Campus opened in 2010 and has outgrown its space. It is currently home to the Automotive and Technology Center and the PSI. Aviation classes presently offered on the Greeley Campus will move to Windsor. The expansion will also allow for more general education courses on the Windsor Campus.

Project Update: August 2023

The Windsor construction projects continue at pace despite the rainy weather this summer. In the Gateway classroom building, the installation of ceiling wood finishes and final flooring are in progress. Glass repair and reinstallation are ongoing. Outside, the focus is on landscaping and site clean-up. Roads and sidewalks are being installed for the training yard expansion, along with continual site clean-up.

Project Update: June 2023

Watch a video tour to see the project move forward. The highlights include the progress of the lobby, new bistro, drone lab, student services suite, learning commons and more. There is also a classroom equipped with an electronically operable wall designed to enlarge the space for larger events or classrooms. The new construction also showcases fantastic mountain views, an outdoor seating area and the third-floor patio at the learning commons.

In the Gateway Building, the painting, carpet, office walls and ceilings are complete.  As warmer weather heats up, outside landscaping and site clean-up are happening on the site.  At the simulated city training yard, curbs and gutters are being installed, with roads and sidewalks planned to be worked on soon.

Project Update: May 2023

The construction projects on the Aims Windsor Campus continue to proceed amazingly well. Aerial photographs were recently taken at the site to show the progress of the project.

In the Gateway Building, the painting and carpet installation is complete. Work on the demountable panel wall installation and site clean-up are ongoing.

The Search and Rescue building in the PSI Training Yard and Sim City is ready for the training maze installation. Students in Fire Science programs can practice navigating through hallways, attics and narrow shafts in the maze once the project is completed.

The entire site is ready for flatwork concrete to provide sidewalks and paths around these new buildings.

The Gateway classroom building and Sim City are scheduled to open for the 2024 Spring semester. Plan on attending the grand opening of these buildings in January.

Project Update: March 2023

You can view our photo galleries to see the evolution of the project with pictures from this month as well as photos from last October, June and March 2022. There are also architectural renderings for the project, so you can see what it will look like once it is completed.
