Representing the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), I participated today (May 14) in the hearing held by the President of the Senate's Special green hydrogen Committee, Cid Gomes (PSB-CE). The event gave the floor to representatives of entities and other stakeholders interested in Bill 2308/23. Senator Otto Alencar's new report is expected to include some of the suggestions received from associations, as well as negotiations with the Treasury regarding the granting of Green Hydrogen tax relief with an impact on the Treasury. The outlook is for the proposal to be approved in the coming weeks and returned to the Chamber of Deputies. This would allow the proposal to be sent for presidential sanction before the July recess. #ClimateAction #GWEC #H2V #RenewableEnergy #Brazil #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyTransition

Ocean Energy Pathway is delighted that Adam Bruce has joined us as our first Global Envoy. Adam brings nearly twenty years’ experience in renewable energy, with a recent career in offshore wind that has taken him around the world. As OEP looks to grow our networks to help accelerate the deployment of offshore wind at scale Adam will help us to engage with governments, regulators and important stakeholders. Adam said: "COP Dubai saw the adoption of a target to triple the installed capacity of renewable energy. For many countries that means building very large amounts of bulk renewable energy generation offshore. OEP’s mission to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind, while working closely with other marine communities, is one that I fully support. I am very proud to be joining this excellent team, with such a clear mandate to help deliver offshore wind at scale across multiple markets". Adam is speaking at the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference on 15 May in the opening session on #OffshoreWind and would be delighted to meet anyone who wants to learn more about OEP and our mission. #3xRE

🚀 Wind Power For a Sustainable Future 🌬️ In 2023, India's wind turbines proved their worth, generating over 82 TWh of clean electricity! This is enough to power nearly 650,000 homes, showing the key role wind energy plays in the sustainable energy mix. 🏠 💡As we work to deliver the ambitious climate goals set at #COP28, wind energy must be the cornerstone of our energy transition. 3️⃣✖️To achieve the #3xRenewables target, we must accelerate the installation of wind turbines globally. Let's harness the wind and propel our world towards a greener future! #SustainableEnergy #Time4Action #WindPower #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy

🤔 Is it possible to triple the world’s renewable capacity? Energy Tracker Asia recently explored the ambitious #3xRenewables goal in a podcast with Liming Qiao, Head of Asia at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). 💬 The podcast delved into a range of crucial topics from the supply chain challenges for new renewable rollouts in the APAC region and the role of governments and the private sector in incentivising secure supply chains and the necessity of workforce development as the world transitions to #cleanenergy. Liming shared, “The wind energy supply chain is extensive, spanning from rare earth minerals mining to manufacturing wind turbine components, vessel installation, port availability, and many other areas. This is why overcoming bottlenecks in the supply chain is a significant challenge for APAC, where the #windenergy supply chain still requires considerable development.” “Having strong supply chain partners in APAC is essential for the industry to progress and countries in the region should shift away from the preference for very strict and prescriptive local content requirements and work collaboratively with neighbouring countries to facilitate this.” 🇰🇷 Liming also covered the importance of the #APACWindEnergySummit happening in November in Incheon, South Korea, where a number of government-industry dialogues will take place. 📊 Download GWEC’s latest Global Supply Side Data Report from our Market Intelligence team now! 🌍 The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is pleased to announce the release of the sixth edition of the Global Wind Market Development - Supply Side Data report. This year, we’ve seen 30 wind turbine manufacturers break records by installing 120.7 GW of new capacity. 🥇 Goldwind was the number one turbine supplier, with 16.7 GW of capacity. Envision and Windey were second and fourth respectively. Mingyang were fifth on the list, and the world’s largest offshore wind turbine supplier in 2023. 🏆Globally, Vestas fell two positions from 2022 to 3rd place, although with wind turbines installed in 36 countries the Danish OEM remains the most geographically diverse. In Europe, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Nordex Group, GE Vernova and Enercon, remain the top five turbine suppliers in 2023. 🌐 Chinese turbine OEMS saw 97 per cent of their installations in their home market. Chinese OEMs only installed 194.1 MW of wind turbines in Europe last year, of which only 8.4 MW was in the EU27. 📈 Across the globe, the contribution from 30 companies resulted in the installation of 23,833 wind turbines, with significant growth driven by markets in China, the US, Brazil and Europe. #WindPower reached an all-time high in 2023, shows Ember’s Global Electricity Review 2024 #GER24 More than 200 TWh of wind energy were added globally in 2023, reaching a total of more than 2,000 TWh. This is the highest amount ever produced from wind power and reflects a promising trend towards renewable energy adoption. However, to deliver on the global #3xRenewables target, total renewable generation needs to reach 40,000 TWh by 2030, calling for action on #permits, #finance, #SupplyChains and #grids. It’s #Time4Action to unleash the full potential of #WindPower.
