Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet 

Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, Central Ave. closes to pedestrian-only traffic and local businesses and organizations hand out candy to costumed families!

Businesses must register to distribute candy at their storefront or to set up a separate booth. 

Once registrations are in, we will contact you to let you know where to set up (you must provide your own table and chairs).

The 2024 schedule is not yet available, but for an example of activities, view the 2023 events below.

Fall Party @ Family Strengths Network

Family Strengths Network, Los Alamos​

Bring your littles for outdoor games, pumpkin painting (B.Y.O.P.), cookie decorating, trick-or-treating, and a costume runway!! Two days and times to choose from (Oct. 27 and 28). 

3-5 p.m.

Trick-or-Treat with LAMC 

Los Alamos Medical Center - First Floor and Back Lawn

 

The whole family is invited to stop by the local community hospital for delicious treats and a lot of fun! Many hospital departments will have themed booths and staff passing out candy to all who dare to enter. 

4-6 p.m.

Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet

Downtown Los Alamos

Central Ave. in downtown Los Alamos opens to pedestrian-only traffic and businesses and organizations from within and outside the district hand out candy to costumed kids and families. A free, annual Los Alamos tradition! 

Halloween Fun at the Nature Center

Los Alamos Nature Center

Stop by the Los Alamos Nature Center during your Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet fun on Friday, October 27. They'll be open for extended hours that day, so come on by for candy between 4 – 6 p.m.! 

High-Tech Halloween at the Bradbury

Bradbury Science Museum

From 4-6 p.m., visit during Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet for some spooky science fun! 

Sensory Friendly Halloween 

Las Cumbres of Los Alamos 

From 4-6 p.m., visit Las Cumbres for face painting, candy launching, and other fun activities! 

6-7 p.m.

Halloween Astronomy

Los Alamos Nature Center

After gathering candy downtown, visit the Los Alamos Nature Center planetarium! Explore historical traditions of Halloween and their connections to astronomy and Ireland at this guided planetarium program. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children.

Barranca Mesa Elementary Trick-or-Trot 5K 

Barranca Mesa Elementary School

Get the whole family moving during the Barranca Mesa Elementary School PTO's 5K Race or 1 Mile Fun Run! The 1-miler begins at 9 a.m., and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. 

Registration: adults with a shirt $35, kids 5-12 years with a shirt $20, adults no shirt $20, kids no shirt $10.

36th Annual Fall Craft Fair 

Crossroads Bible Church

This annual craft fair features gifts and artwork from a variety of vendors, food for purchase, and a quilt raffle.

First 60 pumpkins are free (one per family). Bring your own pumpkin or buy one from the LAHS Choir Pumpkin Patch onsite.

Pumpkin Glow Drop-off and Event

Fuller Lodge Lawn

The Los Alamos Arts Council's annual pumpkin glow returns to the historic, Fuller Lodge lawn this fall. With a carving party, a scavenger hunt, and all things pumpkin-y!

4-6 p.m. - Drop off your pumpkin for display.

5 p.m. to dusk - Pumpkin Toddle (time for very young children, prior to crowds.

Dusk-9 p.m. - Pumpkin Glow and Carving Contest

Ghost Hunt

Los Alamos Little Theater

Join us on the Saturday before Halloween for a Ghost Hunt in the historic (and spooky) Los Alamos Little Theatre!

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is launching it's new energy conservation and efficiency tool: A thermal camera! These cameras can be borrowed from the Los Alamos Public Library starting November 1st and are useful tools to check heat loss around your home--just in time for the change in weather.

This event is free to the public. Please register in advance.

7-10 p.m. 

Halloween Party @ LATC

Los Alamos Teen Center 

Join the teen center youth mobilizers for a spooky good time. There will be music games and lots of Halloween treats! This event is free and open to all high school-aged teens.

Get your sweat on Halloween style! Join instructors Warapha and Natalie for some Zumba fun. Proceeds benefit The Family YMCA's Scholarship Fund.

Downtown Los Alamos Scarecrow Contest

Central Avenue, Downtown Los Alamos 

In collaboration with Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District, Los Alamos Arts Council brings a bit of autumn fun to downtown Los Alamos every year by organizing the annual Scarecrow Contest. Since 2001, scarecrows made by local businesses, clubs, organizations, schools, families, and individuals have graced the walkway lamps along Central Avenue during the week before Halloween, and up to Nov. 1. This year's theme is  "Into the Woods." Check them out all around town!

Los Alamos County Aquatic Center

 

Join us for this fun Halloween event- Diving for pumpkins! Pumpkin retrieval begins at 10 a.m., by age group. Swimming is allowed until 11 a.m. 

Certain fees may apply.

Limit 150 participants.

2-6 p.m., Halloween Blood Drive

Los Alamos Teen Center

Join the Los Alamos Teen Center for their Annual Halloween Blood Drive. The Teen Center and its partners at Vitalant will be hosting a fun, monster-themed donation event. As always, there will be treats and goody bags for donors.
