    Western Australia Premier Roger Cook has conceded his state’s carbon emissions are expected to increase as it extracts masses of gas and critical minerals required for the world to decarbonise.

    Mr Cook on Thursday said Australians needed to acknowledge WA’s unique role in helping the world transition away from coal, which would require the state to increase its own emissions by supplying its resources to Asia.
