  • In 2017, Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) founded the Center to Advance Consumer Partnership (CACP), an organization dedicated to facilitating authentic partnerships between health care organizations and the consumers they serve. CCA has been proud to serve as the incubator for CACP and today we are pleased to announce an important milestone for CACP as it becomes a standalone organization, led by its new President and CEO, Melinda Karp. “Partnering with organizations to leverage consumers as ‘experts by experience’ is not only central to our mission and vision; it is also an important component of our business model and strategy,” said Chris Palmieri, President and CEO of Commonwealth Care Alliance. “We look forward to remaining deeply engaged in the work of CACP as Melinda builds her team and engages with plans across the country to ensure that the voice of the member is at the forefront.” CACP works with innovative health care and human services leaders across the country to develop capabilities, build infrastructure, and cultivate relationships that ensure consumers become enduring organizational partners, invaluable to shaping strategy and action. • CCA has received $150,000 in grant funding from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to develop and facilitate health education programming for seniors in Holyoke and Springfield, Massachusetts. CCA will bring culturally and linguistically appropriate programming and support services to 865 residents across four senior affordable housing locations. Residents, regardless of their health insurer, will be invited to attend monthly in-person workshops, in English and Spanish, on fall prevention, nutrition, digital literacy, and more. “Through our longstanding work across the state, we have learned that individuals living in affordable senior housing often lack access to general health education and necessary support services. For Spanish speaking residents in Springfield and Holyoke in particular, language is a unique barrier that can be mitigated by CCA’s bilingual team. Broadly, this grant will allow CCA to further expand our commitment to providing comprehensive, community-centered services to seniors in Massachusetts,” says Mark Waggoner, General Manager for CCA Massachusetts.
