About us
The Rakia mission started as part of the AX-1 mission to the International Space Station in April 2022, offering, for the first time in Israel and the world, public participation in a space mission. The mission's content was collaboratively crafted by social organizations, educators, researchers from academia, industry companies, artists, and various other entities. The mission demonstrated the vast potential for space activity and research in Israel, achievable by removing barriers to the space domain for diverse populations and sectors. Driven by the desire to inspire curiosity, innovation, social responsibility, and Earth preservation, Rakia Mission aims to advance the space ecosystem in Israel, making it accessible to science, education, art, and culture. The mission fosters international collaborations and provides a platform for innovators, researchers, students, educators, artists, and the general public to explore new ideas at the International Space Station. In January 2023, a collaboration agreement was signed with Axiom Space for continued integration of Israeli activities at the International Space Station. In January 2024, The Israeli Space Forum was announced.

Exciting News from our team at the #SpaceSymposium! We are thrilled to announce that our Head of Education and Development, Maya Shmit Younger, had the honor of conducting a workshop as part of the Teacher Liaison Program at the Space Symposium. The workshop focused on an educational kit inspired by the ILAN-ES experiment, which observes and photographs Transient Luminous Events (TLEs) from both space and Earth. This experiment was conducted as part of the Rakia Mission and more recently on the Axiom Space AX-3 Mission to the International Space Station. The kit was developed by the Rakia mission in collaboration with Prof. Yoav Yair from Reichman University the leading researcher of the experiment, and we would like to extend our gratitude to him. A big thank you to the Space Foundation for this incredible opportunity to showcase the Rakia Mission and for extending an invitation to participants to join in the experiment aboard the International Space Station.
