MARY GETS HERS

Directed by Josiah Davis

It’s the 10th century! A plague rages on in Germany! Everyone is turning into foam! When two overzealous hermits find an abandoned orphan named Mary, they scheme a saintly rescue mission to protect her purity at any and all costs. Mary, however, has other plans for herself, in this new play inspired by Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim’s closet drama-comedy Abraham, or the Rise and Repentance of Mary.

“Like a spinning disco ball, MARY GETS HERS bewitches the gaze.”

Rhoda Feng, The New York Times

MARY GETS HERS is wacky and winking, big on slapstick-and-clown-inspired physicality and totally charming in its quirkification of Hrotsvitha’s dramatis personae.”

Sara Holdren, New York Magazine/Vulture

“Within the delightful, diverse cast of women and nonbinary performers, Perkins and Chavez-Richmond deliver humorous exaggerations of Abraham and Ephraim while Wong emotes an ever-ebullient Mary. Kai Heath crafts a captivating Soldier and Claire Siebers shapeshifts through the rest of the roles

Kimberly Ramirez, Talkin Broadway
