Manage contrast
to manage Myopia¹

Contrast theory¹

Artificially high levels of contrast on the retina signal the eye to elongate. Our modern urban lifestyles come with artificial contrast (reading, using electronic screens...).

A paradigm shift in myopia management

Diffusion Optics Technology™

Introducing DOT™

Diffusion Optics Technology™ integrates thousands of light scattering elements called dots that mimic more natural contrast at all distances.

Our lenses manage contrast by softly scattering light

  • Before it hits the retina
  • Before the retina detects artificial contrast and signals the eye to elongate

Testimonials

After wearing DOT™ lenses for more than a year, my patient prescription is exactly the same; the axial length is the same. The results are good and the parents are very satisfied. That give us a big confidence to boost in this technology.
Dr. Kylvin Ho
Optometrist, FIAO
Compare to other solution, in the young age category these DOT™ lenses might be a little more effective-and we all know that the earlier myopia develops, the faster the child is going to progress.
Dr. Tina Goodhew
Optometrist
The DOT™ lenses is a brand new technology. It is new and acting on a different mechanism than we're used to. It is a tremendous boon to have DOT™ lenses in our toolbox of myopia management care.
Dr. Teddy Chow
Optometrist
Given my daughter young age, I didn’t want her to try contact lenses or other eye drops. I just wanted something that's easy for her age. I thought this DOT™ lenses are the easiest and the best solution that I was informed of.
Catherine & James S.
Parents of 8 years old girl
I’d like to thank our doctor for explaining the various options available and helping us choose the right solution for our kid. The DOT™ lenses really work and we're very happy.
Carina F.
Mother of a 6 years old girl
I love my DOT™ lenses because they help me see better.
Tina S.
7 years old girl
We've tried out a competitor product on one child and the DOT™ lenses on another and we’ve seen that level of myopia control in regards to the DOT™ glasses is greater than the competitive product.

FAQ

Why manage myopia progression?

Higher levels of myopia are associated with an increased risk of sight-threatening eye conditions later in life.1 The aim of myopia management is to slow the progression of myopia to help preserve eye health and vision.

Why choose DOT lenses?

DOT (Diffusion Optics Technology) lenses are specifically designed to correct vision and slow myopia progression in children as young as 6 years old. DOT lenses are safe, easy, providing good all-round vision and are proven to be effective in slowing myopia progression.1

How do DOT lenses work?
When artificially high levels of contrast enter the eye, (eg. from electronic screens or books), it may signal the eye to elongate. When an eye elongates, it becomes more myopic. DOT lenses utilise a breakthrough approach to myopia management; they manage contrast to manage myopia. DOT lenses integrate thousands of light-scattering micro-dots that mimic more contrast and therefore reduce the signals that cause the eye to elongate.
How effective are DOT lenses?

Clinical research has shown the following results after DOT lens wear:

  • 65% of children had no clinically meaningful progression after 1 year1
  • DOT lenses reduced myopia progression by 59% over 2 years, when worn full-time, including near vision activities2*

* Analysis based on parent responses to in-office question, “Does your child remove their spectacles for any near vision activities?”

Are DOT lenses clinically proven?

SightGlass Vision has partnered with 14 independent clinical research centres across North America to scientifically evaluate the performance of DOT lenses in the CYPRESS clinical trial. CYPRESS is a 3-year clinical trial that enrolled 256 myopic children aged from 6-10 years old. CYPRESS is the only spectacle lens study to demonstrate a significant slowing of myopia progression over 3 years in a multi-centre, multi-ethnicity study with children as young as 6 years old.1

When can my child start wearing DOT lenses?

DOT lenses are recommended for myopic children from 6 to 13 years of age.

When should my child wear DOT lenses?

It is recommended that children wear their DOT spectacle lenses for all waking hours and for all activities except swimming or contact sports. Minimum recommended daily wear time is 10 hours.

Is it easy to wear DOT lenses?

DOT lenses are easy to wear and well-accepted by children.

98% of children on the clinical study were successfully dispensed with DOT spectacle lenses.1

How will my child see wearing DOT lenses?

DOT lenses are designed to provide full vision correction and slow down myopia progression.

In a clinical trial, DOT spectacle lenses provide visual acuity of 6/6, (20/20) or better, similar to conventional single vision lenses.1*

Mean high-contrast distance (logMAR) VA with <<DOT 0.2>> was -0.04, -0.06, -0.06, -0.08, -0.06, -0.08, and -0.06 at the baseline, 30-day, 6-month, 12-month, 18-month, 24-month, and 36-month visits respectively. *Ref: SGV data on file 2022. Are DOT lenses right for my child?

DOT lenses are suitable for most myopic children. Your Eye Care Practitioner will be able to determine your child’s suitability after a full eye examination.

Where can I find DOT lenses?
