About us.

Mosa Meat is a food technology company based in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Founded by scientist Mark Post and food technician Peter Verstrate, our team created the world’s kindest burger: the first ever cultured beef burger. It was created by simply taking some cells from a cow – with no need to take its life – and using natural processes to nurture and grow them into real beef.

After proving the concept at a press conference in 2013, we’ve been working ever since on developing this process into commercial products, so we can introduce them to the market and bring sustainable meat production to all.

Our mission is to completely reshape the future of food: making it better for us (and our rapidly growing population), for the planet, and for animal welfare.

Find out more about our mission, our team, and our beef.

We are also fortunate to be supported by world-class advisors and investors. For example, you can read about our partnership with Leonardo DiCaprio here.

We’re proudly based at Brightlands, an innovation accelerator that has supported our development from the start.
