Historical Timeline
At the 2018 NLN Education Summit in Chicago, the NLN celebrated 125 years of a remarkable history of promoting excellence in nursing education through faculty development programs, testing and assessment, nursing research grants, public policy initiatives, and more. A timeline of the NLN’s rich history describing the inaugural days in Chicago at the 1893 World’s Fair, the early days in New York City and eventually Washington, DC, was developed to emphasize the power of nursing education over the years and the role of leader pathfinders.
The timeline was updated as part of the 130th anniversary celebration at the 2023 NLN Education Summit near Washington, DC.
