Senator Klobuchar, ECU // LAV Launch ‘Vote for Democracy Tour’

Sep 08, 2022

Klobuchar and ECU // LAV will hold campaign events with pro-democracy candidates across the country

This week Senator Amy Klobuchar and End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller are launching a ‘Vote for Democracy Tour’ in key races across the country.

They will be holding campaign events, roundtables, and press conferences with pro-democracy candidates, underlining the importance of protecting the freedom to vote, ending the influence of dark money, and standing against attempts to subvert, overturn, and sabotage our elections.

The first events will be in Arizona and Nevada.

“We need to elect more leaders across the country who are on the frontlines of protecting our democracy. I look forward to partnering with End Citizens United // Let America Vote to support pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot as we head into the fall,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar.

“MAGA Republicans continue to threaten our democracy,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “Senator Klobuchar has been an unrelenting leader and incredible ally in the battle to protect the voice and vote of every American. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with her to help elect candidates who will ensure that our democracy is not torn apart by extremists, but instead works for every American.”

Senator Klobuchar and ECU // LAV will kick off the ‘Vote for Democracy Tour’ this week in Nevada and Arizona with:

  • Senator Mark Kelly (AZ-Sen)

  • Adrian Fontes (AZ-SOS)

  • Kris Mayes (AZ-AG)

  • Jevin Hodge (AZ-01)

  • Cisco Aguilar (NV-SOS)

As Chairwoman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee with oversight over federal elections and campaign finance law, Senator Klobuchar has long been a national leader in the fight to protect our democracy and strengthen access to voting. Senator Klobuchar has introduced the Freedom to Vote Act, which would set basic national standards to make sure all Americans can cast their ballots in the way that works best for them, regardless of what zip code they live in, including by improving voting access, expanding early-in person voting and voting by mail, and modernizing election systems.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. Since its founding in 2015 the group has nearly 950,000 grassroots donors and has raised $146 million to help elect its endorsed candidates. In the 2020 cycle, it helped elect 215 endorsed candidates. This cycle, 94% of ECU // LAV endorsed candidates have won their primaries to date.

In 2021, ECU // LAV Action Fund led the fight to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, running a $42 million campaign in support of the once-in-a-generation anti-corruption and voting rights legislation.
