About the Campground

The campground is a quiet homebase to relax near the swimming hole or RV site while you explore the local culture and the nearby Black Hills.

The campground is also a gathering place for multiple short events including a Ribfest, an Adventure Riding Festival, and even the Legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip Music and Motorcycle Festival.

Camping Options

Whether you like to tent camp or set up an RV, there’s plenty of space for you to create your home away from home at the Buffalo Chip Campground.

Sleep under the stars and beat the heat in the shaded tent camping areas that surround Cottle Creek as it winds its way through the heart of the campground.

Enjoy the comforts of home by setting up your RV in a space with access to power and water.

All campground guests will have access to a free shower house.

Cozy, family friendly home. Front door is accessed with a ramp for those guests that are stair challenged. Semi- Private courtyard is perfect for dining, sunbathing or star gazing. Master suite with private bath, 3 guest bedrooms with full bath to share. Large family Kitchen-central Island/dining area open to living room for spacious gatherings. An additional Den features wet bar, beverage fridge and work desk.

Buffalo Bash Demolition Derby | June 29, 2024

Get ready for the adrenaline-pumping action you won’t want to miss on Saturday, June 29, for the Buffalo Bash Demolition Derby at Buffalo Chip’s Camp Zero!

Derby classes include 2-Man Team, Full Size Modified, Compact and Truck. Over $20,000 in prizes! The fun continues throughout the day with additional events like Power Wheels Derby, Extreme Kart Racing & Mini Bike Races and Memorial H-D Races for Walter O’Rourke.

This is an all-ages spectator event fun for the entire family. Kids 5 and under get in free and camping options are available.

Four days of adventure riding and community in the gorgeous backcountry and front-country of remote South Dakota is headquartered at the Buffalo Chip Campground.

Get On! ADV Fest will be full of test rides, seminars, entertainment, prizes, awards, and the latest adventure riding gear and accessories for you and your bike.

Yellowstone Off-Road Racing | July 19 & 20, 2024

The dirt will fly when the Baja-style, Yellowstone Off-Road Races return to the award-winning PowerSports Complex for the Buffalo Chip 100 presented by Pierre Sports Center.

Race enthusiasts are in for some exciting live racing action in Truck, UTV, Ultra 4, and Youth Race categories. The race is one of five in the Yellowstone’s “Wild West Off-Road Series.”
