Did you know there's a creek on Mount Sutro?

On September 26th, Sutro Stewards convened land custodians, and community members, local nature organizations and government agencies to vision together for the future of Woodland Canyon Creek.

The restoration of Woodland Canyon Watershed will be grounded in technical and hydrological analysis and restoration science, we will center community and indigenous voices in the planning and design, we will restore hydrological function and biodiversity, creating creek vistas and welcoming interpretive signage. We will use as little heavy machinery as possible and plan for continued stewardship into perpetuity.

With alignment from UCSF, SFRPD, private landowners at the base of the creek, and community stakeholders, we are now pursuing funding to implement this vision.

Restore
Woodland Canyon Creek

Did you know there's a creek on Mount Sutro? We're working to free it from invasive himalayan blackberry, cape ivy and Eucalyptus and plant native plants along its shores, inviting local wildlife to enjoy its bounty.

Native Plant Nursery

The Sutro Native Plant Nursery is located on Mount Sutro and propagates thousands of locally sourced California native plant species for our conservation efforts. During the winter rainy months, these locally adapted native plants are out planted into our restoration sites across the mountain. Which in turn creates habitat and forage for our resident birds, insects, and other wildlife. A limited number of plants and seeds are also available for sale to the public for crafting backyard habitat gardens!
