The innovative and exciting program at Waltonwood Senior Living is gaining media attentionfor fulfilling and enriching the daily lives of residents who live in Waltonwood communities. Adventure by Waltonwood is personalized life enrichment offering residents activities tailored to their own interests.

For example, one resident read about a new botanical garden and requested that the Waltonwood associates arrange a visit with other residents. Another had the dream to ride in a helicopter and asked the Waltonwood team to make it come true. And they did, arranging every detail.

The program is available to Waltonwood residents in Assisted Living, Independent Living and Memory Care.

Here Joy Klomp, left, made a big surprise to her sister, Carol Timmer, at Waltonwood Twelve Oaks in 2022. Klomp lives in California, and Timmer lives at the Novi location. They had not seen each other in more than five years. Adventure by Waltonwood made it happen!

Adventure by Waltonwood even reunited two sisters who had not seen each other in years

The program's goal is to bring excitement and a sense of wonder to residents - elevate their daily lives to the next level and help provide a sense of achievement. Residents or their loved ones can ask associates about an adventure that interests them. Also, the team gets to know the residents and their families so well that they often make suggestions.

"Adventure by Waltonwood is our next-level, personalized, life enrichment offering. It goes beyond the community, group-based programming," said Lindsay Charlefour, director of life enrichment at Waltonwood,during an interview with Senior Living News."It is a company-sponsored program that encourages residents to live their best life by pursuing experiences that are meaningful to them."

Last year, a resident wanted to learn to make pretty flower arrangements at a florist. Another resident wanted to go with fellow residents on an overnight beach trip.

For some, it may be as sweet and simple as "sharing McDonald's for your birthday with your distant family via Zoom," where Waltonwood arranges all the details. For another, it was going with their family to a local farm to enjoy a hayride. Another resident was thrilled to be escorted and driven to her grandson's college sports game. Adventure by Waltonwood has arranged all this and more.
