PennDOT District 11 is announcing overnight closures of the Smithfield Street Bridge which carries Route 3027 over the Monongahela River in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur Tuesday through Thursday nights, May 21-23 weather permitting.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a nearly 2.5-mile safety improvement project on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the City of Harrisburg, Paxtang Borough and Swatara Township, Dauphin County, is scheduled to begin next week.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) alerted motorists that the Interstate 80 westbound rest area at mile marker 194 will close Tuesday, May 28, while construction occurs at the rest area’s water treatment facility. PennDOT expects the facility to be closed for approximately a month.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the contractor for a bridge preservation project impacting a truss bridge spanning Bald Eagle Creek near Flemington Borough plans to complete a high friction surface application on Wednesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 23. These applications increase the longevity of recently built or rehabilitated infrastructure and improve skid resistance to enhance safety for motorists.

Today, on the heels of Governor Shapiro launching Pennsylvania’s new tourism brand – the Great American Getaway – PennDOT announced its 14 Welcome Centers will host National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) from May 19-25. Around the state, tourism partners and counties will promote their businesses in-person to Welcome Center customers via static displays, giveaways and information tables. Partners include privately-owned Pennsylvania tourism attractions as well as state and national parks and museums.
