Meet the Management

Meet the Management is our opportunity to show our appreciation to you, our customers. During this time of year, VRE management visits a different station every week, bringing refreshments for everyone. The goal is to meet our riders in person in order to hear any questions, complaints or comments they may have.

Santa Train

Every year just before Christmas, kids and their parents are given the opportunity to ride a VRE train to meet Santa and friends, who are on board to promote rail safety and Operation Lifesaver’s “Look, Listen and Live” campaign.

Clifton Day

VRE participates in the annual Clifton Day Festival. The festival is an event where you can enjoy fine arts, crafts, and antiques in the historic town of Clifton. Kids will enjoy the music, family entertainment and the civil war re-enactment.

Firecracker Special

For a few years, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has run a Firecracker Special on both the Fredericksburg and Manassas Lines to downtown Washington, DC for Fourth of July Fireworks.

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

To introduce rail to a future generation of riders, VRE allows students between the ages of 11 and 18 to ride for free each year on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day when accompanied by a paying adult.
