IT'S TIME TO REVITALIZE THE HISTORIC CAL NEVA

The legendary Cal Neva is known for its glitzy heyday during the 1960s, a time when Marilyn Monroe, JFK and Frank Sinatra frequented the lakeside lodge and casino. Originally built in 1926 and later redeveloped by Sinatra in 1960, the Cal Neva has been in need of renovation for the past several decades. The property closed for business altogether in 2013.

IMAGINE a revitalized Cal Neva that has been transformed into a new icon of Crystal Bay. A vibrant lifestyle destination that is being reimagined to deliver a suite of indoor and outdoor wellness amenities, entertainment and gaming, and chef-driven dining concepts. A place reimagined where guests can explore and enjoy a REVITALIZED energy while honoring the site’s rich history and culture.

THE PLAN

McWhinney’s project team, in partnership with The Kor Group and operating partner Proper Hospitality, is excited to begin the visioning and design process for the 13-acre Cal Neva site. The award-winning design team is focused on upgrading and modernizing the existing hotel tower while retaining some of the original character of public spaces like the historic Indian Room and Frank Sinatra Showroom. The intent is to offer a world-class spa and wellness retreat in addition to enhanced outdoor and gathering space options. The design and development team understands the need to maintain balance with the beauty of Lake Tahoe and surrounding community. We are looking forward to engaging with the community and meeting with regulatory officials as the plan takes shape.
