Highlighted by the 12th Highbanks Hustle, the 17th Terry Sprague Memorial, 2 WFO Wing Outlaw Shows, and 2 HART Non-Wing Shows, the 2024 Schedule features a new format with racing every weekend through August and then every other weekend after that.

All nights, except the Hustle and Sprague, will now be points nights with your lowest 3 being drops for the season championship!

The Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota returns to action in late-July with debuts at Doe Run Raceway and Southern Illinois Raceway.When the Series visits Doe Run Raceway on Friday, July 21, it’ll be the first time in the track’s 29-year history that dirt Midgets will make laps around the 1/6-mile facility. Then, when the Series makes its first visit to Southern Illinois Raceway, it’ll be the first time since 2019 the track has hosted a national Midget tour.In the three previous POWRi national Midget events held at Southern Illinois Raceway, Christopher Bell won the first two and Jake Neuman won the latest in 2019.Cannon McIntosh currently leads the Xtreme Outlaw points with a 121-point lead over Gavin Miller. McIntosh also has the most wins this season, so far, with four. However, in the Series’ last two events, reigning Series champion Zach Daum swept them both.

Included on this year’s schedule are fan-favorite events The Prelude to the Hustle, the Prelude to the Sprague, the Highbanks Hustle, and the Terry Sprague Memorial. Back again, after a 3-year hiatus, midgets will again hit the high banks. This time under the Xtreme Outlaw banner!

Keep an eye out for guaranteed purse races, special promotions, and other additions to the set dates.

As our year-end celebration nears, we ask that you please RSVP with the number of attendees you expect in your party. This will help us to have enough food prepared at the venue.

SIR will provide the main course and drinks of tea, water and lemonade. There will be a bar on site with other drinks available for purchase.

The Southern Illinois Raceway schedule is set for the 2022 season and it features a few new and exciting changes as well as some old staples!

Highlighted by the 10th running of the Engler Machine and Tool Highbanks Hustle and the 15th Annual Terry Sprague Memorial, the schedule boasts 22 dates and 4 practice nights. The staples of the Performance Electronics Preludes to the Hustle and Sprague return in ’22 and showcase their normal $1000 to win and $100 to start payouts for Wing and Non-Wing outlaw respectively. The class specials also return for the Sportsman, Junior Sprint, Mod Lite, Restrictor, and Dwarf divisions. Each of those races will guarantee a $500 to win payscale regardless of car count!

A handful of NEW things also take place in ’22.

Leading the pack is a slimmed-down points schedule. As you’ll notice, we’ve chosen 10 nights to designate as a points night. Each of those nights is an opportunity to accumulate points towards the 2022 Season Championship. At the end of the year, we’ll take your best 8 races and crown champions for each division. Not to be left there, SIR has established a $1500 points fund for each class. Bragging rights are nice, but nothing beats cash to bank! The Champion of EACH division will pocket a cool $750, second will see $450 coming their way and 3rd bringing in $350. Also new this year is the addition of at least one off weekend per month. Make sure you take a look and mark those dates!

Also new for ’22 is the Illiana Championship presented by HART. SIR will participate in the 2nd of a 2-weekend series where competitors will settle it out. Illinois or Indiana! Each night of the Illiana Championship will feature a $1000 to win and $100 to start payday for the Non-wing outlaw division! SIR’s date for the Illiana Championship is partnered with Tri-City Speedway and Wayne County Speedway and will take place the weekend before the 15th running of the Prairie Farms Terry Sprague Memorial!

Last, but probably the MOST exciting!! In ’22 SIR will GUARANTEE a $500 to win and $50 to start payday for the Non-Wing Outlaw Division on all non-major show weekends! Each night will be advertised in advance. As always, if the class hits their 16+ car count, they’ll still get the normal $500 payscale as well!! Thank you Non-Wingers for your support at SIR. We truly appreciate it!!

Both the Prairie Farms Non-Wing Outlaw and Driven Performance Midwest Wing Outlaws will race for a GUARANTEED $500 to win and $50 to start purse!

We are RAINED OUT for 8/21 due to significant rain this morning and continuing rainfall. AUGUSTS CLUB meeting will be POSTPONED until 9/11.

Our next race will be 8/28 and will be the START of the CHASE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP in all classes!

All payouts on 8/28 will be based off car count. A make up for the Mod-Lite special will be held on 9/11!

As the Southern Illinois Raceway Highbanks roared back to life, we saw the dawn of a few new eras and the close of others. We at Southern Illinois raceway would once again like to thank Trey Holmes for the amazing racetracks he put together over the last 3 years. We had some of the BEST races on his racetracks. We saw the high banks build their famous curb and we saw technical race tracks that Trey was able to whip into shape after unexpected or torrential amounts of rain. Trey, THANK YOU!

The new era of Rick Hilliard track prep took over this weekend, and he too built a tremendous racetrack! The highline was on the fence, the bottom was fast and race cars were all over the place. Rick and crew put together a racey track that afforded the opportunity for competitors to make moves and improve positions. Here’s a run down of the nights action!

Bailey Chassis Restrictors:

Eight entires signed in on the night with point Leader Braden Pfeiffer headlining the group. In heat race action, Ryder eigenrauch started P1 and controlled the race wire to wire to pick up the victory. Braden Pfeiffer would follow in second and up 3 spots, Kameron Sneed would round out the top 3. Sneed would earn the pole position for his run in the heat race with Eigenrauch on the outside. Eigenrauch would again control the race and go on to a commanding victory over Sneed in 2nd, Pfeiffer in 3rd, Steven Doss, up 2 spots, in 4th and Max Crabdree rounding out the top 5.

Prairie Farms Non-Wing:

21 Non Wing Outlaws were ready for battle Saturday night. Charles Starnes, Austin Schaeffer, Daniel Robinson and more were part of the field that featured 3 heat races. In Heat 1, Cole Tinsley would start outside front row and go on to take the victory. Following Tinsley to the line was Daniel Robinson, up 5 spots, and Colton Booten. Heat 2 saw LeRoy Carley also start outside front row and pick up the dub. Bryant Harsy and Dale Kinsell, up 1 spot, would round out the top 3. Heat 3 saw mass carnage take effect, but was headlined by Austin Brown taking the checkers first and Ricky Kelly and Wyatt Vick rounding out the top 3, up 3 and 4 spots respectively! When the feature rolled around, Daniel Robinson would be bringing the field to the green. He would go on to cruise to victory lane followed by Tinsely, Carley, Brown and Kelly.

Chemstream Racefuels Mod-Lite:

In mod-lite action, 9 entries would take to the track to battle it out. In heat race action, Matt Filkins would improve 4 spots to take the victory followed to the line by Matthew Ragland and Brad Norman. Filkins would go on to pace the field for the feature accompanied by Ragland on the front row. Filkins would go on to take his 5th victory of the year . Ragland, Norman, Nathan Smith and Josh Hutchinson Would roun dout the top 5.

Ike Family Dealerships Jr Sprints:

The rising stars division saw 10 entries sign in for competition with previous winners Titan Cobin and Jace Cooksey and point leader Reece Palmisano headlining the field. In heat race action, Gunner Grimes would jump out to an early lead over the field and never look back. Following grimes to the line were Aiden Robinson and Jace Cooksey, up 2 and 3 spots. Feature time saw Jace Cooksey continue his torrid pace, picking up 2 spots and the nights checkered flag! Robinson, Jayden Hiller, Cobin and Keizer Kramer would round out the top 5.

Williams Auto Body Sportsman:

The featured division on the evening pulled in 14 cars for their big payday headlined by point leader Ryan Roy and feature winner, LeRoy Carley, Jaxon Wiggs, Lane Warner and Jackson McClain. Heat 1 was dominted by Jaxon Wiggs, who picked up 3 spots to take the win. He was followed to the line by a hard chrarging Carley, up 5 spots, and Aydn Schmidt, up 2 spots. Heat 2 was won by Bradyn Warren in the 10 car. Dalton Dowdy picked up 3 spots to come in 2nd and Sam Morthland grabbed a spot to cross in 3rd. Carley’s efforts from his heat race would reward him with the pol for the feature, joined on the front row by Wiggs. Carley would go on to rail the top for a wire to wire victory. Schmidt would pick up 2 positions to come in 2nd, Dowdy in 3rd, Wiggs in 4th and Gunner Shroyer rounding out the top 5.

Maier’s Tidy Bowl Dwarf:

The dwarf class pulled in 9 entries on the evening and were headlined by Chris Maier, point leader Jeff Billingsley and Audie Murphy. Maier would go one to capture the heat race win after starting on the pole. He was followed to the line by Billingsley who picked up 1 spot and Murphy, who also picked up a spot. Maier would go on to lead the field to green in the feature event, but it was Billingsley who would go on to take the checkers for the night! Following Billingsley to the line were Maier, Murphy, Perry Foskey and Austin Park. Both Foskey and Park moved forward 2 positions to capture their top 5s!

Driver Midwest Wing Outlaws:

Another class that drew in 21 entires for the evening was headlined by 2 Time Reigning Champion Chris Cobin, Daniel Robinson and point leader Brocton Williams. The class was split into 3 heat races for the night. Heat race 1 was won by Cole Tinsley after picking up 2 spots. Williams would come home second, also picking up 2 spots and Jason Eigenrauch rounding out the top 3. Heat 2 was won by Jake Palmisano, picking up an impressive 6 positions. Robinson would follow Palmisano to the line, picking up 3 positions, and Collin Wece would round out the top 3. Heat 3 saw Logan “Larry” Null grab the win after starting 4th. lane Warner would come home 2nd and Blake Daniels would round out the top 3 after picking up 2 spots. Palmisano would lead the field to green in the A-Main after his heat race run, joine don the front row by Null. Robinson would quickly work his way to the lead on lap 2 and go wire to wire for the remainder of the event. Williams picked up 3 spots to come home 2nd. Tinsley, would would battle Robinson briefly for the lead came in 3rd. Null and newcomer Daniels would round out the top 5.

Up next for the highbanks, the Chemstream Race Fuels Mod-Lites get their night to shine aswe feature them for our program on August 21st! They will race for a guranteed $500 to win. All classes will be racing.

Even though mother nature was against us, Trey Holmes was able to get the highbanks ready for an action packed night of racing with 110 cars entered for the Prelude to the Sprague. All seven classes put on a show with the Sportsman, Juniors, and Winged Outlaw classes having double features to make up their rainout features from 5/15.

First up was the rainout features. Trevor Walker picked up his 1st feature win of the season winning the Sportsman feature. Kade Mason won the Junior make up feature, and Tyler Rust got the monkey off his back winning the Wing Outlaw makeup feature.

In the Bailey Chassis Company Restrictors Noah Chitwood picked up his first heat race win and that put him on the pole for the feature. Braden Pfeiffer got around him to get another win for the season. Noah Chitwood and Max Crabdree made the top 3.

The Prairie Farms Non-Wing division had 34 entries for the 3rd Annual Performance Electronics Prelude to the Sprague with $1000 to win and $100 to start. Alex Burgener, Logan Null, Chris Cobin, and Aiden Purdue all picked up a heat race win. Greyson Springer wheeled around Shane Heck and picked up the B Main win. The feature was packed with some heavy competition. Aiden Purdue started the pole and never looked back, winning the Prelude to the Sprague.

The Chemstream Modlites had 9 entries. The defending class champion, Matt Filkins started in the back for the heat race and wheeled it up to a 2nd place finish against Dustin Ledbetter. Dustin Ledbetter ran 2nd to Matt Filkins in the feature until a last lap caution that gave Dustin the lead to victory lane for back to back feature wins.

The Ike Family Dealership Junior sprints had 13 entries for their guaranteed $500 to win. Lily Walster and Jayden Hiller picked up heat race wins. While Titan Cobin dominated much of the feature, Tate Gurney parked it in victory lane after contact between Cobin and Dicero sidelined them both. Eli Holden and Lily Walster rounded out the top 3.

In the Williams Auto Body Sportsman division, Nathan Rector and Leroy Carley won their heat races. Hunter Pruitt picked his first feature win in the Sportsman division with Leroy Carley coming in 2nd and Jackson McClain 3rd.

Jeff Billingsley picked up another heat race win in the Maier Tidy Bowl Dwarf division. In the feature, Brad Norman started 3rd and wheeled it to the front to pick up his first feature win of the season. Defending Dwarf champion, Jeff Billingsley came in 2nd with Audie Murphy making up the top 3.

Last but not least was the Driven Performance Midwest Winged Outlaw division. There were 27 entries for the guaranteed $500 to win and $50 to start. Brocton Williams, Trevin Littleton, and Carson Heady all picked up heat race wins. A couple of the drivers had some tough luck, therefore 25 cars made the feature. Brocton Williams started 6th and wheeled it to the front for another feature win. Aiden Purdue started 8th and worked his way up to 2nd with Larry Drake coming in 3rd.

Be on the lookout for an exciting weekend of racing with 3 days of the Hart Illini Non-Wing Challenge. The Challenge will kick off Thursday at Wayne County Speedway with $1,000 to win. Other classes on the schedule for Thursday are Juniors, Restrictors, Modlites/Dwarfs, A-Class, and $500 to win Wing Outlaw.

Night #2 will be at Coles County with another $1,000 to win for the Hart Non-Wing series. Also running will be Restrictors, Juniors, A-Class, and Wing Outlaw.

Saturday will wrap up the Challenge at Southern Illinois Raceway with $700 to win and $75 to start for the Hart Non-Wing Series. This is also the last weekend to get your car dialed in before the 14th Annual Terry Sprague Memorial. Other classes running will be Restrictors, Juniors, Modlites, Dwarfs, Sportsman, and Wing Outlaw. Join us for 3 nights of action packed racing

Coming into its 3rd year, the Performance Electronics Prelude to the Sprague is set to be another premier race in the non-wing community. With the winner’s share set at $1000 to win and $100 to start and boasting an impressive $5000 purse, this year looks to be no different than the previous two!

In 2019, it was Matt Veatch who bested a field of 39 entries. Veatch would start 3rd on the race and march his way to the front quickly as the battles ensued behind him. Since retired Brian Jones would pick up an impressive 16 spots on his way to a 2nd place run. Jaxon Bishop, Tyler Rust, and Jake Palmisano rounded out the top 5,

The 2020 Prelude to the Sprague was a bit delayed but kicked off in early August. 37 entries clocked in for the 2nd running of the Prelude. Aiden Purdue would outlast Tyler Rust to take the win in the 2020 Prelude. Following Purdue and Rust to the line were Daniel Robinson, up 2 spots, Alex Burgener and Brandon Rose, up 3 spots.

After wins from Veatch at SIR and Purdue last weekend at Wayne County Speedway, could these 2 be set up for a battle of Prelude champs? Daniel Robinson was on the hunt a couple weeks ago at SIR as well!

In addition to the Prairie Farms Non-Wing outlaws, all other classes will be racing!

Braden Pfeiffer picked up the last Restrictor win on June 26th followed by Jaxton Wiggs and Billy Lieb. Cale Goodwin grabbed his first win of the year at SIR in the Winged Outlaw class, followed to the line by Jake Palmisano and Devin Feger. Wiggs would go on to pick up 6 spots and the Sportsman feature win followed by Hunter Pruitt and Cale Coons. JJ Williams was the class of the Jr Sprint field as he dominated in a win. Eli Holden and Jace Cooksey followed Williams to the line in 2nd and 3rd. Dustin Ledbetter went on to be the 3rd different winner in the Mod Lite division as he best Matt Filkins and Cameron Stewart! In the Dwarf division Jeff Billingsley took the dub followed by Domenick Hutchinson and Chris Maier.

This weekend will also feature the normal guaranteed $500 to win and $50 to start Wing Outlaw payout that SIR features on an off POWRi weekend!

The night started off slow with a delay in getting the program up and running due to a pesky drizzle that kept hanging around, but hey, who could blame anyone or anything for wanting to see the action on the highbanks?!

As sign in started, 104 entries made their way to check-in between the 7 classes with the Prairie Farms Non-Wing recording 23 of those, the Williams Autobody Sportsman 21 and the Driven Performance Midwest Wing Outlaws stacking up another 21. The Chemstream Modlites and Ike Family Dealerships Jr Sprints also put double digit entries on the board with 13 and 11 respectively and 8 and 7 coming in for the Maier’s Tidy Bowl Darf class and Bailey Chassis Restrictor division.

As Trey waited out the rain, the track chose to show it’s treacherous side this weekend and really proved to be a rather technical surface to navigate. Once cars hit the track for Heat races, things really began to shake down on who was going to be fast!

In the Bailey Chassis Restrictor division, Jaxton Wiggs started on the point for the only heat race of the night for the group. He would win comfortably over Max Crabdree and Billy Lieb. Wiggswould go one to back up his heat race win win his first victory of the season at SIR over Lieb, who picked up 2 positions, and Braden Pfeiffer in 3rd!

The wingless wonders would take to the track next and the Prairie Farms Non-Wing class would leave nothing to be desired! Heat race wins were picked up by Alex Burgener, gaining 1 position from his outside front row starting position, Tyler Rust, up 4 spots, and LeRoy Carley, winning from the pole. The A-Main saw some tough action as turn one proved difficult to navigate for some. Tyler Rust would go on to lead the main’s first half but would encounter problems in lapped traffic and surrender the lead to Alex Burgener. Burgener would go on to encounter issues himself and get caught up in an accident with only a handful of laps remaining. This turned the lead over to Carley, last week’s winner, who held off a hard charging Jaxon Bishop, up 17 spots, in second and a Cinderella story after his 2020 season in Collin Wece bringing home 3rd.

This little division has truly become one of the premier classes at Southern Illinois Raceway, bringing in stout fields week in and week out. The Williams Auto Body Sportsman heats saw Jaxton Wiggs, take the win in Heat 1 after starting outside front row. Trevor Walker would gain 3 positions to take Heat 2. Rounding out the heat wins would be Garrett Benson taking his W from the pole. As the the field rolled out for their A-Main, mother nature once again showed her face and we were forced to pull the plug fearing additional rain showers, deteriorating track conditions and late hours.

The little guys and gals would take to the highbanks next with the Ike Family Dealerships Jr Sprints. Heat 1 was taken by Kade Mason, up 2 spots, followed by Ethan Ellison, up 3 spots, and Hunter Grimes in 3rd, also up 3 spots. Heat 2 would be won by Lily Walster, who gained 2 spots, followed by Reece Palmisano and Jayden Hiller, who gained 1 spot. The Jr division was also cut short on the night after the postponement due to rain.

The Chemstream Race Fuels Mod Lite division once again pulled an impressive 13 competitors. Heat 1 saw Mike LaBrot take the win from the pole in his #10 car followed by Dustin Ledbetter and Billy Beard. Heat 2 was captured by Matt Filkins who was followed to the line by Jaggar Beard and Jason Billingsley. Once again, the Mod Lite feature was postponed due to rain!

The stars of the night, The Maier’s Tidy Bowl Division saw 8 cars check in for competition. Audie Murphy would take the sole heat race win. Chris Maier gained 4 spots to come home second and Austin Park gained 5 spots to come in 3rd. The Dwarf special A-Main was also postponed due to rain.

The Driven Performance Midwest Wing Outlaw division saw 21 entries check in as the competition begins to heat up before the 9th running of the Highbanks Hustle. Heat 1 saw Craig Ronk absolutely blister the field from his 4th starting position. He was followed to the line by Tyler Rust in 2nd and Brocton Williams in 3rd. Heat 2 was won by Jaxon Bishop, up 3 spots also. Devin Feger and Cole Tinsely rounded out the top 3. The third and final heat was won by Garrett Benson, up 2 spots. Andy Bishop also gained 2 spots and finished 2nd. George Hertter rounded out the top 3 after gaining an impressive 4 positions. the feature for the Driven Performance Midwest Wing Outlaw class was also postponed due to weather.

Make up dates have not yet been announced for the 5 divisions who did not get to run an A-Main. Check back soon for announcements on those dates!

We want to thank everyone for hanging in with us during the weather delays. We sincerely apologize we couldn’t get these in on Saturday. Track work has been scheduled this week as well to repair a few items. We’re pretty pumped about what Saturday has to offer!!!

This weekend, SIR will hold something a little different; Throwback Night!

The Maier’s Tidy Bowl Dwarf Class will race for a guaranteed $500 to win as we showcase the fender cars first this year.

Hosting an impressive car count year after year. The dwarf class has seen some of the most competitive racing with names like Chris and Cody Maier, Billy Beard, Chad DeSpain, Darrel Bracken, Jeff Billingsley, Audie Murphy and new comers Dominick Hutchinson and others all dotting the landscape with wins over the years.

We look to see a solid, competitive group of yesteryear cars!

We’re also including YOU, the fans! This year we ask that you throw it back to your favorite decade or Era, take your pick!

We’ll choose the best dressed and hand out a few prizes as well!

Also in action will be the Bailey Chassis Restrictors, Prairie Farms Non Wing Outlaw, Williams Auto Body Sportsman, Ike Family Dealerships Jr Sprints, Chemstream Race Fuels Mod Lites and the Driven Performance Wing Outlaws.

The Driven Midwest Outlaws will also race for a guaranteed $500 to win payday as the POWRi series take a weekend off!

Gates open at 3pm, hotlaps at 6 and racing at 7.

72 entries checked in on a chilly night where rain threatened all day long but those 72 entries put on one heck of a show!

In the Bailey Chassis Restrictors, Steven Doss picked up the heat win after starting on the pole while Ryder Eigenrauch improved 2 spots to take home 2nd and Max Crabdree started and finished 3rd. In the A, Eigenraugh would start on the pole but encountered som eunusual issues as both he and Doss collided sending Eigenrauch for a tumble before the green ever waved. Doss would go on to capture the Restrictor main event followed by Braden Pfeiffer, who climed 5 spots, Max Crabdree, Madison Kerley and Eigenrauch rounding out the top 5.

The Prairie Farms Non-Wing Outlaw division saw LeRoy Carley climbing one position to take his heat win and Joe B Miller also climbing one position to grab a heat win. In the A Main, you could throw a blanket over Tayler Hungate, Carley and Miller for the first half of the event. Carley threw a slider to take the lead around lap 13 and lead the remaining circuits while holding off Miller to take his first W of the year. Following Carley and Miller to the line were Chris Cobin, up 5 spots, Hungate and Cale Goodwin, up 4 spots.

The Williams Auto Body Sportsman class saw 15 entries check in for a night of racing. Lane Warner picked up 4 spots and a Heat 1 win, Heat 2 saw Gunner Shroyer take the checkers first after picking up 1 spot. The A main was all Lane Warner as he checked out to his first win of the year after starting on the pole. Gunner Shroyer again picked up one spot from his original starting position to finish 2nd after being relegated to the rear after an early yellow. Chas Walster brought home 3rd followed by LeRoy Carley, who picked up 11 positions, and Ryan Roy, who picked up 5 spots.

The Ike Family Dealerships Jr division saw Kade Mason pick up the heat win while throwing a chain coming to the line for the win. In the A Main, Mason once again saw chain trouble while running in the 2nd spot. Lily Walster went on to pick up the win after leading most of the race. Reece Palmisano came home in 2nd, Ethan Ellison in 3rd and Liam Maier and Noah Betts rounded out the top 5.

The Chemstream Race Fuels Mod Lite division had 8 entries check in and saw Matt Filkins pick up the heat win. In the A main, Filkins cruised to the win after starting outside front row. He was followed to the line by Mike LaBrot, who gained 2 spots, Jason Billingsley, who also gained 2 spots, Cliff Dun and Don Warren.

In the Maier’s tidy Bowl Dwarf division, Jeff Billingsley had one heck of a heat race and picked up 4 spots to take the win which would set him up for the pole of the A Main. Domenick Hutchinson had something to say this weekend though and picked up an impressive 5 spots to take home his first dwarf feature win. Following Hutchinson to the line was Billingsley, Audie Murphy, Austin Park and Andy Park.

Two heats of cars set the stage for the Driven Midwest Wing Outlaws where in heat 1, Lane Warner started on the pole and stayed there to take the win. Jake Palmisano would start 4th and jump to an early lead to take the win in heat 2. the A Main saw no surprise as 5th starter Joe B Miller was able to grab the lead about a quarter of the way through and hold on after a series of yellows and a lengthy red for Reece Saldana, who was injured in an accident. Following Miller to the line was Palmisano, Michael Brummitt, Cole Tinsley and Warner.

We all ask that you take a moment of your day and send your prayers up for Reece Saldana. His family has posted an update that his T4 and T5 vertebrae were broken in his accident. they are meeting with Physicians and Surgeons to determine the best course of action to get him back up and running as quickly as possible!

Next up, the Throw Back night! We’ll celebrate eras gone by with a guaranteed $500 to win Dwarf payout. To make it a little more fun, we ask that you all dress up in your favorite era. get the big hair going and wear the tie dye for the 80s or go all the way back and wear that slicked back hair, white tee and leather jacket for the 50s! Just have FUN!

With just over 40 days left until the 9th running of the Engler Machine and tool Highbanks Hustle, entry remains open and competitors are putting their name on the list daily.

With POWRi running Speedweek as a non points event, we welcome all competitors to join the Illinois fun on Tuesday night with a race at Coles county Speedway and then head to Charleston Speedway Wednesday night for the POWRi Speedweek opener and then on Thursday, you can either head to Lincoln Speedway for night 2 of POWRi Speedweek or head to the highbanks for open practice of the Highbanks Hustle. Then after the conclusion of the Highbanks Hustle, head to Fayette County Speedway on Sunday for the conclusion of POWRi Speedweek!

Friday and Saturday mark the 9th running of the Engler Machine and Tool Highbanks Hustle and we couldn’t be more excited! There’s no time like the present to begin gearing up for the 9th running of the Engler Machine and Tool highbanks Hustle and with that said, we’re going to make it worth your while. No minimum cars, straight $500 to the winner!

We’ll even throw in $500 to win on all other classes pulling 16 or more cars. Afraid your class won’t make that? That’s ok, we’ll still toss you a $300 to win with 11 or more cars!

Let’s try this again for opening night! This Saturday marks the beginning of the 32nd season of competition at Southern Illinois Raceway and there’s no pandemic slowing us down this year!

We open the year celebrating one of founders, Rob Landes, who recently passed away. Rob meant so much to this track as he was one of the handful that put their money, time and energy on the line to see this facility come to fruition. they built something so spectacular that we want to honor Rob for being a part of that and leading the organization for it’s first 10 years!

On the competition side of the aisle, please make sure you have your Driver Profile complete by filling it out here. If you plan to race for points, they also begin this weekend. Your points don’t start accruing until your membership is paid AND your membership form filled out here.

As you may be aware, the Sportsman division has been opened so that you may compete in other division on any given night as well. Please note, we cannot wait for you as you try to run back to back classes. Your time given will be the 2 parade laps as stated in the General Rules under General Race Procedures Section 2. PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THIS. Enter classes accordingly.

It’s officially race week! No more practices, not more get your laps in, it’s time to scoot!

Opening night at SIR is upon us on so is Legend’s Night. We have a couple special things planned to honor some of the greats of SIR and those that built the legendary highbanks. We also get to turn our attention to the current cars and stars on the track.

A renewed line up of events starting with the Bailey Chassis Restrictors out first. Jaxton Wiggs dominated when he came to SIR last year. Will he continue that trend? Ryder Eigenrauch has looked fast in practice and Noah Chitwood has picked up speed each time out.

The Prairie Farms Non-Wing division will take to the track second in the line up and there looks to be a lot of stiff competition here. 2-Time reigning wing champion, Chris Cobin looks to make a run at the Non-Wing title in Bob Britton’s #16. Tyler Rust will be back to compete as well. Tayler Hungate? Logan Null? Who’s your pick?

Third out will be the Williams autobody Sportsman division. WOW. that’s all I have to say for this one. Whose division is this one? Jaxton Wiggs? Dalton Dowdy? Ryan Roy? Rick Odum? Take your pick.

Next on the list is the expanded Ike Family Dealerships JR Sprint Division. Man, it sure looks like we have a crop of drivers coming into this one! We’ve got Reece Palmisano coming back from 2020. Ethan Ellison looks super fast as well. Don’t forget about Titan Cobin who already has one win one the year!

The Chemstream Race Fuels Mod-Lite division cranks out their laps next. Ya’ll like lots of Mod-Lites???? Looks like this division is pumped up as well! Who’s got anything for Matt Filkins? Jeff Billingsley looks fast in his ride. How about Nathan Smith? Billy Beard? Dustin Ledbetter? We’re excited to see a crop of mod-lites!

The Maier’s Tidy Bowl division rolls out 6th on the night. We fully expect Cody and Chris Maier to continue to battle it out here along with Jeff Billingsley. What about the Hutchinson brothers? OR…Ralph Halleran!!

Rounding out the night will be the Driven Midwest Winged Outlaw division. 2 time reigning champ Chris Cobin returns to go for a three-peat. Aiden Purdue and Joe B Miller will surely make appearances. Brocton Williams also has a few tricks up his sleeve. This division shoul dbe exciting regardless!!

April’s club Meeting will take place at 3pm today, the 10th, before practice begins.

There are no new items on the agenda.

It’s a little over 24 hours before cars hit the highbanks of Southern Illinois Raceway and we couldn’t be more excited! We know we have a lot of first timers and quite honestly, it’s been a couple years since we’ve done these Saturday night practices so we figured we’d give you a quick run down.

Pits will open around 3:30pm. You can pull in at anytime after then. If you’ve reserved a spot, you can bring your signs in and put them in their spots. Make sure to stop at the tan and green building to grab your pit pass, they’ll be $10 per person this weekend regardless of age.

At 5:45pm, we’ll do a quick driver’s meeting, nothing formal, just a welcome back and to cover some procedures.

At 6pm, cars will take to the track in weekly running order. That running order is:

Non-Wing

Sportsman

Jr

ModLite

Dwarf

Wing

We will run the first few session through in that order until the regularity of those coming to run decreases and then we will put them on in order as they come to staging.

You may run as many times as you want throughout the night. Trey will get the track in shape and let it wear as it would on a race night as well.

We will run til 9pm!

We’re under a month to go before racecars hit the surface of the famed highbanks here in Southern Illinois. We need a little help from you!

In order to make the first nights of racing go as smoothly as possible, we ask that you complete your Driver Profile here. You’ll need to fill this out as a driver. Even if you don’t plan to run for points! it will help with getting you entered for the night quicker, getting your checks sent to the appropriate place as well as giving Darren highlights to broadcast during events.

If you plan to race for points, we also need you to fill out and pay for your Club Membership here. Your points begin to accumulate when you have completed the form AND paid your membership dues!

With the 2021 season just 40 days away, it’s time to take a look at the storylines we see heading into an action packed year! From here, we’ll take a deep dive into each of our 7 classes and the competitors that make them rock!

Starting out with the Restrictor class, we welcome back Bailey Chassis as the headlining sponsor of the youngster 600 division. Last season saw Jaxton Wiggs capture his championship even after missing a round in the Chase. With 13 starts last year, Jaxton took home an impressive 9 wins, but with that success comes advancement to the Sportsman and Outlaw classes leaving a void for the next champion of the class. We have a Ryder Eigenrauch and Noah Chitwood moving up from the JRs and Hunter Harris, Billy Lieb, Arik Adruskevitch, Collin Shain and Braden Pfieffer all returning with the latter 2 picking up a couple wins a piece. This class is wide open with several kids that are extremely fast. We should see multiple winners and have a tight race for the championship in October!

Let’s chase that jug of milk! Prairie Farms comes back in 2021 as the presenting sponsor of the Non Wing Outlaw division where we saw Brocton Williams capture his second title in as many years. Charlie Starnes took home runner up honors. This division is WIDE open. I expect we’ll see Brocton come back to defend his title as well as Starnes looking to steal it away. From there, we could see Jaxton Wiggs, Blake Daniels, Logan Null, Tayler Hungate and others take a look at the crown. Of course we’ll see the occasional appearance from Joe B Miller, Chris Cobin, Aiden Purdue, Jake Palmisano and others but I don’t expect them to run for the title. It’s my prediction that Tyler Rust resumes his dominance without a wings and steals this one away from Williams.

A new year brings a new era for the Sportsman Class. For the first time since its inception, competitors will be able to run this class along with other classes on the same night. Who does this bring into the class? Will we see Blake Daniels and Dalton Dowdy remain here and try to capture another title? Is it Ryan Roy or Jackson McClain’s year for their first title? I also suspect we’ll see Rick Odum a few times as well and we expect him to remain in form and capture a win or two. Gunner Shroyer is on the edge of a break out season and if it all comes together for him, I predict that Gunner takes home the crown for the Williams Auto Body Sportsman division in 2021.

The Ike Family Dealerships Junior sprint division will see a few move out and from the sounds of it, several move in to start their racing careers. Returning in 21 will be points runner up Reece Palmisano, Aiden Robinson and Titan Cobin. Cobin and Robinson have each gotten a win in 21 as well to kick start their seasons. New comers include a familiar last name in Maier with both Chris and Cody getting their sons started in the Jr Sprint class. Look for this division to once again be a toss up. I suspect we’ll once again see multiple winners with multiple wins!

We have one question for the Chemstream Race Fuels Mod-Lite division…..Who can beat Matt Filkins? Nathan Smith was able to capture the only other wins in the class last year at 3 while Filkins took home 13 wins on the year. I’m sure we’ll see Filkins with multiple wins on the 21 season, having already won at the Midwest Winter Nationals. I also believe that we’ll see Smith back in victory lane. Is there anyone that can challenge Filkins for the title? My prediction is that he takes home another title with Smith close behind. Rumors are swirling that Billy Beard could be making more trip across the river to join the fun as well. Will we see a surprise in the class? Stay tuned.

The Driven Performance Midwest, that’s right Driven Midwest, Wing Outlaw class brings back all it’s familiar names and then some. Chris Cobin, fresh off a repeat, brings a new 2021 Hyper Chassis the show ready to rip the lip. Brocton Williams has been SOOOOOO close the last 2 years and how about the speed that Logan Null showed before he changed his name to Larry?? Blake Daniels, Cale Goodwin, Jaxton Wiggs, Dalton Dowdy, this class is stacked!! 13 different winners in 20, you should expect much of the same. Joe B Miller, Austin Schaeffer, Aydn Schmidt, Jake Palmisano, Cole Tinsley, Reece Saldana, Caden Englehart…all names that can, and more than likely will, put up a dub in 21. Parity is the name of the game here but at the end of the season, my prediction is that Brocton Williams finally walks into the offseason as a champ.

This class certainly hasn’t gone down the drain…The Maier’s Tidy Bowl Dwarf division is truly becoming one of the most contested divisions at Southern Illinois Raceway. Four different winners showed up and showed out last year with Cody Maier leading the way at 8. At the end of the year however, is was Jeff Billingsley taking home the championship hardware. Add Chris Maier, Audie Murphy and THE Ralph Halleran to the mix and you never know who’s going to walk put with the win. I predict we see a tight battle for the championship again this year, Cody Maier regains form and ekes this one out though!

The Highbanks Hustle returns for it’s 9th season kicking off June 17th with practice and concluding on June 19th with Championship Night. Last year saw a dominating performance from Frank Flud becoming the first repeat winner of the prestigious race. Joe B Miller has been close so many times that his turn has to be getting close. So many names with so much potential for being crowned the Hustle King.

Following up the biggest outdoor wing race in the county is the Terry Sprague Memorial, one of the Nation’s largest non-wing outlaw shows! The TSM kick off July 29th with Practice and concludes July 31st with Championship Night. Damon Paul reached up and snatched this one after a lengthy weather delay. Paul has since moved to sprints, will he be back to defend or will we see a new winner in 21?

Throwback Night and the Dwarf Special will take place on May 15th. What is Throwback Night? Whatever you want it to be! Throw it back to your favorite era. The 60s? Wear your white tee and leather jacket. The 80s? Get that hair big and wear those bright colors!

Armed Forces Night on May 29th. We honor those who have served and those who have fallen. All Active Duty and Military vets get free entry into the Grandstands on the 29th!

The Performance Electronics Prelude to the Hustle drops $1,000 to win and $100 to start on June 5th. This is an opportunity for a tune up for all Hustle competitors.

The Restrictor Special drops $500 to win pay scale on the Restricted class on June 12th.

HART makes it’s first trip to the highbanks in 21 on June 26th.

Jul 10th brings us back to action after a weekend off for Independence Day festivities and man is it a big one! The Performance Electronics Prelude to the Sprague delivers $1,000 to win and $100 to start for the Prairie Farms Non-Wing Outlaws.

July 17th brings the Rising Start/JR Sprint special night with $500 to win for the little guys!

HART rejoins us on July 24th.

On August 14th, the Sportsman class vies for a $500 payday!

The Mod-Lites get the nod the next weekend, August 21st for $500 to win.

The Chase kicks off August 28th and runs through October 2nd.

On September 11th, we pause once again as a great nation to remember the horrific acts 20 years ago and to thank those who rushed in to save. All First Responders will recieve free admission to the grandstands.

In addition, if you plan to run with us at all in 2021, weather it be the full season or just one night, we need your info to put into MyRacePass.com. You can get us that info by filling out the Driver Profile. Doing this early, and not on the first night of practice or racing, will help expediate registration throughout the year and cut down on pill draw wait times!

The season starts with 2 practice events on April 10th and 17th and racing officially begins with April 24th’s Legends night!

The Performance Electronics, Ltd. Prelude the to Hustle features a $1000 to win and $100 to start payday for the Wing Outlaw micros and runs on June 5th.

The Engler Machine and Tool Highbanks Hustle runs June 17th to the 19th and will feature some of the nation’s BEST! Rain dates for the Hustle are set for June 20th for a one-day makeup and June 24th through 26th for a complete weekend makeup.

On June 26th, the HART – Heartland Auto Racing Tour takes the track for their first of 2 events at SIR during the 2021 season.

July 10th features the @Perfromance Electronics Prelude to the Sprague and the Non-Wing outlaw class’s chance at a $1000 to win and $100 to start pay day.

July 29th through 31st will feature the 2021 Terry Sprague Memorial that features a new payout and a whopping $10,000 to win for the non-wing outlaws! Rain dates have been set as August 1st for a one-day makeup and August 5th through 7th for a complete weekend makeup.

The exciting CHASE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP kicks off August 28th and features a 5 race stretch where drivers have to be on their game to take home their division’s Championship Crown!!
