Crisis Support

Service Coordination

The Service Coordination team is the main vehicle by which Garrett County Community Action Committee (GCCAC) Inc. meets the needs of individuals, families, and seniors. The program aims to connect residents to supportive services that promote self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life. Services are coordinated through Service Coordinators, who are on-site to provide residents with information, make referrals to local community organizations, and bring resources on-site.

Empowering Communities

Asset Development

Garrett County Community Action Committee Inc. believes building assets is one of the best ways to become self-sufficient. Garrett County Community Action’s (GCCAC) Asset Development programs are designed to achieve various goals, from building a cushion to cover short-term emergencies to saving for post-secondary education or home ownership. Asset Development programs include one-on-one financial coaching, assistance to renters to build equity, and various other strategies.

Child & Family Development

Garrett County Community Action believes in engaging families in order to achieve overall family well-being and understands that children perform at a higher level when they are part of a thriving family.

Senior Services

Garrett County Community Action’s Senior Services team plans, coordinates, and advocates for developing a comprehensive service delivery system at the local level to meet the senior population’s short- and long-term needs.

Transportation

Garrett Transit Service (GTS) is a public transportation provider for Garrett County. Affordable and convenient, Garrett Transit Service is committed to providing an excellent customer experience and dependable service. GTS is community driven!

Early Head Start | Head Start

Garrett County Community Action Committee (GCCAC) Inc. Early Head Start and Head Start is a federally funded child development program designed to provide high-quality early childhood experiences to prepare children for kindergarten success and prepare families to participate in their child’s education actively. Early Head Start and Early Head Start Child Care Partnership serves children birth to age three and pregnant women. Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5 who are not eligible for kindergarten.

Garrett County Community Action is currently accepting applications for its Early Head Start and Head Start programs. You may also receive a hard copy application by calling (301) 334 – 9431.
