Summary:
If ASHRAE is to maintain leadership as an essential knowledge resource for a sustainable, high-performance built environment, the experience of HVAC professionals outside of North America must be strategically understood and valued. In particular toward addressing areas of rapid growth, South America, South Asia and Africa should be a focus of activity. Two thirds of countries where we see most of the growth in building stock still lack mandatory building codes. Engineers active in these ASHRAE Regions will share their perspectives and guidance for future work, including the adoption, harmonization and adaptation of standards concerning space cooling and refrigeration.
