Flight training videos wanted

Submit your story in the Flight Training Experience project

If you have been training during the coronavirus pandemic, we know you have a story to tell—and we want to hear it as part of our Flight Training Experience project.

Preflight July 2020

In a short video posted to social media with the hashtag #FTEProject, “share how you, your instructor, or your school overcame the challenges to make flight training a success this year.”

Our You Can Fly team typically hosts the Flight Training Experience Awards to find and honor the best flight schools and instructors in the country. But, during the challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic, the team is instead looking for uplifting training video stories that will be combined into a larger video to premiere at Redbird Migration in October.

“Especially considering the challenges we’ve faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, help us take a moment to celebrate the strength and hard work of our flight training community,” said Chris Moser, AOPA senior director of flight training education. “We want to know how aviation inspired you or others this year.”

In a short video posted to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Twitter with the hashtag #FTEProject, “share how you, your instructor, or your school overcame the challenges to make flight training a success this year,” Moser said.

No need to edit the video or send in a polished product. We’re looking for the raw stories, and we’ll add finishing touches for the final project. The deadline to submit a video is July 31.

If you need some inspiration, here are examples from two of our AOPA staff members—one about what he is doing to stay sharp while grounded and the other about the excitement and confidence boost that comes with learning to fly.
