2015-2019 ACS 5-year PUMS Files and Documentation Released January 14

2015-2019 ACS 5-year PUMS files are now available in data.census.gov and the FTP site. 

Visit our new Microdata section of the website to find PUMS data, and resources like the PUMS Handbook, How-to Use instructions, FAQs and documentation. The PUMS documentation includes the PUMS ReadMe, Accuracy of the PUMS, PUMS Estimates for User Verification, Subjects in the PUMS, and Data Dictionary. Code Lists have also been posted to help users with the release of the 2015-2019 ACS 5-year PUMS files. 

2015-2019 ACS Variance Replicate Estimates Tables and Documentation Released January 14

2015-2019 ACS Variance Replicate Estimates Tables are now available through the Variance Replicate Estimates Tables data page and the FTP site. These tables allow advanced data users to calculate margins of error when collapsing data within a table or across geographies.  Supporting documentation is also available.

2015-2019 ACS 5-year Estimates Released December 10

2015-2019 ACS 5-year estimates are available in data.census.gov and the API.

The 2015-2019 ACS 5-year Press Kit includes a wide range of resources, including the press release, and access to background materials for this release.

2015-2019 ACS 5-year estimates are based on data collected from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019.

2015-2019 ACS 5-year estimates are available for geographic areas down to the census tract and block group levels.

2015-2019 ACS 5-year Narrative Profiles Available

2015-2019 ACS 5-year Narrative Profiles are available for state, county, place, metropolitan/micropolitan statistical area, ZIP Code Tabulation Area, American Indian Area/Alaska Native Area/Hawaiian Home Land and census tract. Narrative Profiles summarize many topics using nontechnical text and graphs. Find our new 5-year Narrative Profiles on the ACS Narrative Profiles page. Other profiles such as, Data Profiles and Comparison Profiles are available in data.census.gov.

Summary File Data

The 2015-2019 ACS 5-year Summary File data on the FTP site are now available. Supporting materials were released last week.

This webinar covers background information about the ACS, changes for this release, and where to find new data release information on the ACS website. Select Summary File Materials Released

Supporting materials for the 2015-2019 ACS 5-year Summary File have been released, including the templates, technical document appendices, table shells, and sequence number/table number lookup file. The 5-year Summary File on the FTP site will be released on December 10, 2020.

Release Schedule

The 2015-2019 ACS 5-year estimates will be released on December 10, 2020.  These data will be available for all geographic areas including census tracts, ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs), and block groups.

The 2015-2019 ACS 5-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files and 2015-2019 ACS 5-year Variance Replicate Estimates will be released on January 14, 2021. For more information on the release schedule, visit 2019 ACS Release Schedule.

2019 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates and Documentation Released October 15

2019 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates are available in data.census.gov and the API.

2019 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates are based on data collected from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019, and they are available for geographic areas with populations of 20,000 or more.

2019 ACS 1-year PUMS Files and Documentation Released October 15

2019 ACS 1-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files are now available on the ACS website, the FTP site, and in the microdata analysis tool on data.census.gov. Supporting documentation such as the PUMS ReadMe, Accuracy of the PUMS, and PUMS Estimates for User Verification have been released to help users with this release.

2019 ACS 1-year Estimates Released September 17

2019 ACS 1-year estimates are based on data collected from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.

2019 ACS 1-year estimates are available in data.census.gov and the API. Data.census.gov works best in Google Chrome. Learn more about data.census.gov resources, including how-to materials, video tutorials, and more.

2019 ACS 1-year estimates are available for geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more.

2019 ACS 1-year Table Shells and Table List

Table shells for the 2019 ACS 1-year tables and profiles are available on the FTP site. The 2019 ACS Table List is also available. It includes information, such as table IDs, titles, and universes, as well as 1-year/5-year availability, in one spreadsheet.

Release Schedule

The 2019 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates will be released on September 17, 2020.  These data will be available for the nation, all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, every metropolitan area, and all counties and places with populations of 65,000 or more.
