fflag

FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity. We are dedicated to supporting parents and their lesbian, gay, bisexual and Trans daughters and sons.

We offer support to local parents groups and contacts, in their efforts to help parents and families understand, accept and support their lesbian, gay and bisexual members with love and pride.
FFLAG members are parents of lesbian, gay, bisexual or Trans sons and daughters. These young people and their families face serious homophobia in our society, which brings in its wake prejudice, bullying and alienation.

Proud 2b Parents

Proud 2 b Parents has been running as a monthly drop-in session for many years under the umbrella of Sure Start; a government initiative for families with children under 5.

Matt Taylor-Roberts set up the drop-in sessions when he first started working for Sure Start, when he found that there was no all inclusive service for LGBT parents and their children in Manchester. The drops-ins quickly became popular, and because of this the activities grew and so did the needs of the service.

Stonewall

We're here to let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, here and abroad, know they're not alone. We believe we're stronger united, so we partner with organisations that help us create real change for the better. We have laid deep foundations across Britain - in some of our greatest institutions - so our communities can continue to find ways to flourish, and individuals can reach their full potential. We’re here to support those who can’t yet be themselves. But our work is not finished yet. Not until everyone feels free to be who they are, wherever they are.

Switchboard LGBT

At Switchboard we provide an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men and bisexual and trans people – and anyone considering issues around their sexuality and/or gender identity. We are: confidential, welcoming, supportive, non-judgemental.

We listen to all kinds of calls, and we take every one seriously. Whatever made you call, we’re glad you did – and we want to help you.

Here are some of the things people might call us for:

  • Information about support groups for someone who thinks they are trans or nonbinary.
  • Support for a man who has been a victim of homophobic abuse, but has previously had a bad experience going to the police.
  • Contact details for an LGBT-friendly therapist.
  • Support for a lesbian teenager thrown out of her home by her parents, and who needs somewhere to stay.
  • Information on how to get to local gay pubs for someone with mobility issues.
  • Times and places for a local bisexual social group.
  • Listening to some of the concerns a mother has about her child who is trans.

Every call is unique, and Switchboard prides itself on responding to the changing needs of our communities by providing a service that’s continually evolving and relevant.
