Engineering

Start your engineering journey with EnSci at the UFS

The University of the Free State Department of Engineering Sciences (EnSci) offers a 3-year BSc degree majoring in Physics and Engineering subjects. Completion of this programme equip graduates with a degree in physics, with the addition of the fundamentals of engineering studies.

Graduates can then choose to:
  • enter the employment market, or
  • continue with further studies in physics, or
  • apply to register for an additional second degree in engineering, BEng or BScEng, for two additional years at another university that recognises the UFS degree. Acceptance is subject to conditions.

Graduates pursuing the latter option can obtain an additional second degree in a specific engineering discipline, e.g. civil -, electronic -, electrical -, mechanical -, mechatronic -, aeronautical - or industrial engineering.

Plans to offer a new full engineering degree at the UFS is far advanced. Watch this space!
