Regular programming on ABC TV and ABC Radio has been suspended as we provide special programming to reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, following her death at the age of 96.

Over the coming days and weeks, the ABC will have dedicated teams covering events from the UK including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and the activities around the accession of King Charles III.

ABC Programming Friday, 9 September 2022

ABC TV and ABC News

Live continuous coverage of events in the UK, at home and around the world and special programming celebrating the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the ABC’s continuous coverage throughout the day there will be a two hour national 7pm News Special, simulcast on ABC TV, ABC NEWS channel and ABC iview, hosted by Sarah Ferguson and David Speers.

The special will cover the events of the day and reflect on the life and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, featuring commentary from ABC Chair Ita Buttrose, royal expert Juliet Rieden and others.

ABC iview is hosting a collection of regularly updated news coverage and special programming.

ABC Radio

ABC Radio in all metropolitan and regional centres will broadcast nationally this morning and this afternoon, with Virginia Trioli and Josh Szeps, covering reaction from around Australia and around the world to the news of the Queen’s death.

ABC Radio will also feature a wide range of content from the ABC Archives highlighting the connections the Queen had with all states and territories and with communities all over Australia.

ABC ME

ABC ME news program BTN will provide age-appropriate coverage for younger audiences.

ABC Kids and ABC TV Plus and programming will remain unchanged.
