Why was Andrew Jackson called “Indian Killer?” What is the historian perspective on the current movements to remove public monuments that are perceived as racist? Public monuments are statements of power? National monuments signal specific histories that are remembered but also specific histories that are suppressed. Frank Miller and President Taft bought the property to place the cross on top of Mount Rubidoux ow do you decolonize places and monuments? What is the difference between Whiteness, White Supremacy and White people? What is the documented process of manufacturing Whiteness? Comment by 1ofakindre "You get to choose what you leave in and what you leave out" So then why can't we leave this history (or preserve this history in a museum) and make sure people know the wrong. And then ADD to the history, add what has been missing. "Rewritting" history should be an offence to any historian. We want all stories, all facts (wrong or right), it should all be part of our history. To only further enrich our minds and learn not only the good but the bad as well. It is then our responsibility to think critically after all the information has been given to us. 2020-08-28T20:17:55Z
