In 2020, the session “Foster business contribution to the SDGs at national level” discussed the crucial role of the private sector in achieving the 2030 agenda. This session, co-organized by the global power company Enel, UNDP Business Call to Action (BCtA), and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), builds on the outcomes and with a focus on SDG12 and SDG17 further highlights how enabling multi stakeholder cooperation and engaging business in the process will ultimately accelerate the transition towards a sustainable and resilient society by maximizing positive impacts.

During this interactive session we will present examples of mutual beneficial partnerships that highlight the important role of the private sector in building forward together in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic and put the world on track to achieve the SDGs by 2030, within the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development, by:

  • Providing examples of how a sustainable and inclusive recovery phase to the pandemic can mobilize the partnerships and transparency needed to achieve the SDGs
  • Demonstrating the shared benefits of partnerships for the 2030 Agenda
  • Sharing examples of how the SDGs leads to adoption of new partnerships and sustainable business models and foster transparency on private sector impacts and contributions -
  • Sharing companies’ response to COVID, lessons learned, and opportunities identified to pilot new solutions
