Get active for animals in need by participating in in the Sweat for Pets Charleston Lake Challenge on Sunday August 28th in support of the Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre!

Self-supported triathlon with distances up to 3 km Swim/Paddle, 50 km Bike, 10 km Run

Starting and finishing at and Sand Bay County Park, Charleston Lake, Athens, ON

Event start:

Starts at beach edge, Sand Bay County Park, at 7:00 am start. Participants should be at the County Park before 6:45 am for scheduled briefing

Self – Supported course allows for participants to do the distance they choose. Indicate on registration form what distance you expect to do.

Course:

SWIM (or paddle) Course marked out in 1 km triangle. Swim up to 3 times this loop for 3 KM (maximum distance). Start and finish at beach edge of Sand Bay. Keep turn buoys on your left.
T1 50 m run from beach to Pavilion at County Park Road
BIKE Out and back 50 KM loop on rolling country paved roads. Sand Bay, Lyndhurst, Morton, Jones Falls and return to Pavilion
T2 at Pavilion
RUN 2 loops of out and back 5 km on rolling country road. Sand Bay to Charleston village (u-turn at Main Dock at end of County Rd# 40) to finish at Pavilion

Cost:

To participate in this event, you must register for Sweat for Pets and raise a minimum of $50 online prior to the event.  You must also complete the registration form on this website. 

Key Information

1. This event is fully self-supported (participants bring their own beverages/nutrition to do the event and be aware of all routes) There will not be any marshals on the course.
2. Check the route maps for understanding
3. Participants must check-in by 6:45am and check-out at finish
4. Participants equipment can be set out, under or near the Pavilion the morning of event
5. Participant parking is available on grassy area, further down County Park Road, just before Parkside Lane
6. Participants must be at beach front by 6:50am
7. Charleston Lake Challenge starts at 7:00am SHARP
8. Participants MUST wear helmets when cycling
9. All roads and beach are open to the public. Participants must obey the rules of the road.
a. Runners must run facing traffic (run on edge of left side of the road at all times)
10. Participants MUST wear helmets while cycling
11. All roads and beach are open to the public. Participants must obey the rules of the road.
12. Relay participants are responsible for ‘tagging’ their teammate before proceeding
