Payne Family Impact Scholarship

For Montana students in the middle

The Payne Family Impact Scholarship is a $7.5 million scholarship fund for Montana students who demonstrate significant financial need, particularly those who fall outside the Federal Pell Grant eligibility. Terry Payne, UM alumnus, made the donation for the creation of this amazing scholarship opportunity.

Apply

To be considered for the Payne Family Impact Scholarship, you must first apply for admission at UM and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using UM's school code: 002536

The financial aid office will begin awarding these scholarships on December 1st 2021, and recipients will be notified via mail. Payne Family Impact Scholarship funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early admissions application and FAFSA submission is recommended.

Eligibility

These scholarships will be available starting Autumn 2022, to incoming Montana resident first-year students pursuing a four-year degree. Eligible recipients must have a FAFSA on file at UM that demonstrates financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Individual amounts will range from $500 to $5,000 per year. The scholarships are renewable for three additional years as long as students maintain the conditions above and meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP) standards.
