Arts in Chemistry

Funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Our stories

Funded by a Mellon Foundation grant as part of the New College and the Cross-College Alliance in the Community initiative, this “Arts-in-Chemistry” website contains 4 experiment-based demos and 15 Infographic stories. All the demos are closely related to our daily life. Some of them (Magic inks; Using orange peel to pop balloons) can be done at home. All the Infographic projects are closely related to one current environmental issue you may encounter in daily life. These projects demonstrate how the discipline of chemistry can help us understand environmental issues, and how science can suggest potential solutions to environmental problems the world currently faces.

Please enjoy the infographics and video presentations found on this site, which were created by New College students in the spring and fall of 2021. Click on “About Us” for more information about why this web site was created.
