Rhea Law Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of South Florida
Tampa, FL – Rhea F. Law, Chair and CEO of Fowler White Boggs and past USF board chair, has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. The honorary degree was bestowed upon Ms. Law at the USF Morsani College of Medicine Commencement Ceremony, held at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts on May 10, 2013.
During Rhea’s tenure as board chair, USF saw significant growth and increases in research funding, which now reaches more than $400 million, $251 million of which comes from the Morsani College of Medicine. While serving as both chair and vice chair of the board’s Health Sciences Workgroup, Rhea worked to advance USF Health’s strategic goals locally, statewide, nationally and internationally. She championed the cause of equitable funding for USF Health with state and federal leaders and addressed the need for funding of such programs as the electronic health records effort known as Paper Free Florida.

In addition to leading Fowler White Boggs, Rhea is a committed volunteer who has served her state and community as the chair of the Command Advisory Council for the 6th Air Mobility Wing at MacDill AFB, past chairs of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, the Tampa Bay Partnership, and the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. She has received numerous recognitions including the prestigious 2012 Herman W. Goldner Award for Regional Leadership, recipient of the 2012 Glass Ceiling Award by The Florida Diversity Council, the 2010 University of South Florida President’s Fellow Medallion and being selected as one of Tampa Bay’s 100 Most Influential Business Leaders.
Ms. Law has more than 30 years’ experience in government, environmental, administrative & land use representation. Rhea’s practice has grown to include representation of some of the largest mixed-use development projects in the State of Florida.
