National Organizing Manager
My name is Camden Hargrove, a proud Black, transgender man, husband and father. It is my honor to present this #TDOR message for the first time as NBJC's National Organizing Manager.

This year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance/Resilience (TDOR) is especially painful as 2021 has become the deadliest year on record for transgender, gender-nonconforming, and nonbinary people in the United States. Unfortunately, as in years past, a majority of those experiencing fatal violence are Black transgender women.
The 46 stolen lives we are honoring this week highlight the urgency of the crisis impacting Black trans people. Many people have come to me over the years seeking ways to help stop the violence plaguing our community. I am proud to work at the National Black Justice Coalition, an organization on the frontlines of federal policy efforts to reduce the violence against transgender, gender-nonconforming, and nonbinary people.
We are also clear that it requires local efforts to ensure that we all do more to increase competence and compassionWe share these resources in recognition of TDOR, hoping to support efforts to learn, grow, and do more to celebrate and support Black transgender, gender-nonconforming, and nonbinary people.
Please download our Gender Justice Toolkit which was created to ensure that gender justice is in the forefront of our minds. That includes ending the violence that Black women and girls—both cisgender, transgender, as well as gender non-conforming people—experience simply as a result of who they are and how they exist in the world.
On TDOR this Saturday, November 20th, please take a moment of silence to remember those we have lost and celebrate those fighting for liberation and equity for the trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming community.

We can end this epidemic together.

Sincerely,
Camden Hargrove
