For more than 20 years, the Pinchot Partners have provided a safe and open forum for people with diverse views and values to come together in good faith to collaborate on restoration projects on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
By identifying "Zones of Agreement," they distill diverse and often conflicting voices into clarified recommendations to the U.S. Forest Service in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District.
By "working on common ground," Pinchot Partners helped end the costly stalemates that plagued forestry work and devastated rural communities since the 1990s.
OUR MISSION
"The Pinchot Partners work within the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and surrounding areas, to promote watershed health, create quality local jobs, and encourage sustainable recreation."

Perhaps our biggest contribution is the steadying effect we have between those with conflicting views and interests. Our aim is to provide space and time to address controversial topics on the front-end of forest work, avoiding litigation and the waste of resources, energy and goodwill.
OUR WORK
In collaboration with the National Forest Service, the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Cascade Forest Conservancy, timber industry representatives, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources, our work has focused on:
• Active huckleberry restoration and monitoring work
• In-stream wood bank pilot program
• Stabilizing roads to reduce run off
• Improving culverts for increased habitat restoration
• Thinning and harvest of overgrown plantation stands
• Creating Zones of Agreement position statements
