Wildwood Crest Bike Path Reviews

vacation 2022

Nice bike path next to the beaches.

Nice Ride

Ride this in combination with the boardwalk and path to second avenue. Makes the total ride almost 4 miles each way

Awesome place to ride

Great path to use if your in the area. In the morning mostly bikers, walkers, and joggers. In the evening mostly walkers enjoying the sea breeze. Goes right along sand dunes. Very smooth surface, personally my son and I chose to inline skate on it in the evening (what a blast). Plenty of benches to sit, several parks for the little ones and walkways onto the beach.

The only reason to ride this...

Is because you are riding all of New Jersey Trails or happen to be in Wildwood Crest for vacation. It runs about 1 mile south of the famous Boardwalk and is entirely concrete. It is bike path in name only and is used mostly for walkers, surreys, and families with strollers (nothing wrong with that). The route ends on the northern end at the boardwalk, which you can ride on before 11:00 AM. I have walked or rode this section for years and did not know it was a bike path until I stumbled on it at this webpage.

Extend your ride in the early morning

This path conects to the Wildwood boardwalk (allows bike riding til 11:00am only) which is an additional two miles. The boardwalk ends at about 14th street but then there is a paved path right on the beach that takes you to 2nd street which is about another mile. So if you are biking early (well before 11am), you can take an uninterupted ride from the begining of the Wildwood Crest path, all the way to 2nd street in North Wildwood. This is about 4 miles one way. Dunes, sand and boardwalk are the views. You'll end up at Herford's inlet in Northwildwood which has benches and a rest room at 7th street. My whole family loves these early morning rides.

Wildwood Crest Bike Path

Scenic. Short. Bumpy, not continuous asphalt, with slight diversions around street ends. Connects with Wildwood boardwalk, then into North Wildwood along light traffic road (even in summer) to Hereford Inlet. The whole stretch is very scenic!
