A VIRTUAL, PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN QUEER HISTORY TOUR

With a recognition that now is the time to prioritize Black art and artistic voices we will be donating a portion of our proceeds from the show to national and local organizations that are doing on the ground work to support queer Black lives now: TGI Justice Project and the Center for Black Equity.

We have an antidote to being physically disconnected from our communities! An interactive, online show performed live touring the streets of San Francisco...virtually.

OUT of Site: SOMA is virtual-live-street-theater project that explores the history of San Francisco’s South of Market district, a catalyst for radical change and a stronghold for queer and activist organizing.

Our online show is a performance like you haven’t seen yet: immersive theater, drag, live music, puppetry, a virtual tour, a dance party - all in celebration of our radical LGBTQ+ figures who fought for justice and visibility.

It's a play performed live in digital space...

It’s a concert with live music and sexy perks...

It’s an immersive experience - a hot spot to parade your best leathers on our virtual stage, and volunteer to appear in a scene!

It’s a dance party - mix up a dandy cocktail and mingle with our cute Queer audiences from around the world. Who knows? You may meet a new sweetie in the crowd.

This project honors stories of resistance, resilience and rising to the occasion when faced with great adversity. We’ve been here before, and this show reminds us that we have solutions for dealing with times like these.

This project believes that it’s impossible to move forward without knowing where we came from. And this project does just that. It will remind us of how we can get through this, while bringing us together.

OUT of Site began as a collaboration with Shaping San Francisco, a participatory community history project documenting and archiving overlooked stories and memories of San Francisco. Shaping San Francisco's public programming includes a FREE Public Talks Series, as well as bicycle and walking tours. A digital archive operating since 1998, Foundsf.org is an open source online historical resource for information on our City's past.

OUT of Site SOMA takes place on the traditional, unceded territory of the (Ramaytush Ohlone) people. We recognize their sovereignty, as there are no treaties on these lands, and we are dedicated to building a new relationship between our nations based on respect and consent.
