Amphibian Stage Tad-Poles Stilt Dancing Program: Inspired by West African Traditions

Join us for free afternoon events featuring guest artists from across the Metroplex’s thriving visual and performing arts scene. Hosted in conjunction with the special exhibition The Language of Beauty in African Art, each unique program will celebrate vibrant cultural traditions and diverse forms of expression from Africa and the African diaspora.

Inspired by West African and Caribbean traditions, Tad-Poles youth stilt dancers will perform with accompaniment by choreographer, drummer, dancer, and balafon player Moussa Diabaté and group. Moussa Diabaté comes from a great line of “griots”—traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa.
