Thank you to everyone who participated in the Indigenous Business Month 2023. We had over 40 events held across the country. The theme To Gather Together inspired us to be with each other, in our communities, during a momentous time. While the final result was not what we expected, we are still here and continue to work hard within our communities. Looking ahead to 2024 which will be the tenth anniversary of Indigenous Business Month. We had no idea that we would be still going a decade later. Yet here we are. IBM growing stronger each year is a demonstration of the resilience and fortitude of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the country. We are busy planning our year ahead, and look forward to announcing the official 2024 theme in the new year. Have a wonderful Christmas and safe and enjoyable New Year. https://lnkd.in/gyRFcfAw... Last night many amazing Indigenous Businesses gathered at Parliament House in Meeanjin to celebrate the launch of the The Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN) and Indigenous Business Month. QIBN will be independent of government and provide services to support First Nations business growth, employment growth and community success. The Queensland Indigenous Business Network intends to support Indigenous businesses through a variety of ways, including establishing regional hubs and providing business mentoring. In addition, the Queensland Indigenous Business Network will link First Nations businesses to procurement opportunities and connect businesses to local networks and stakeholders as well as provide a channel of representative voice, services, and support to Indigenous businesses throughout Queensland. #IBM #ToGatherTogether #QIBN

First Nations Foundation launches new ‘Fireside Yarn’ business event series to empower entrepreneurs with the financial tools for success. This new initiative, the First Nations Business Fireside Yarns, is a series of information and networking events starting in Victoria to support entrepreneurs seeking to take their business to the next level. The first event in the series will take place on Wednesday 25 October in Naarm with a focus on “Accessing Capital”. Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander business owners and entrepreneurs from across Victoria are invited to join us and gain insights from a panel of finance industry experts from Indigenous Business Australia, NAB Business Banking, First Australians Capital, and Ochre Ventures. Our panelists will yarn about the different types of capital available, when you need (or don’t need) capital to start or expand your business, and avenues to access capital as a First Nations business owner in Victoria. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with panel members directly over networking and refreshments throughout the evening. First Nations Foundation, which has previously reconnected Indigenous Australians with more than $25 million in superannuation and developed the world’s first Indigenous-led online financial literacy progam, is focused on achieving financial prosperity for Indigenous Australians. Research conducted by the Foundation in 2019 uncovered that only 1 in 10 Indigenous Australians are financially secure, compared with 1 in 2 non-Indigenous, and almost half are living in severe financial stress. Entrepreneurship is a promising pathway for our people to enrich their lives, strengthen their families and participate in the development of their communities, says CEO Phil Usher. “Our Fireside Yarn is bringing experts together with First Nations entrepreneurs from across Victoria who are seeking capital for their business. This could be people with a side-hustle looking to turn it into a legitimate operation, or businesses seeking to expand their operations. It’s an opportunity for businesses to network and learn from the experts who work in this area of finance, and who have been through the process of raising capital themselves.” What: First Nations Business Fireside Yarn Where: QT Melbourne, 133 Russell Street, Melbourne CBD When: Wednesday 25 October, 5:30pm - 8:00pm For more information please visit our website and follow us on Instagram for updates. #IBM #indigenousbusinessmonth #IndigenousBusinessMonth #indigbizmonth2021 #indigbizmonth #indigenousbusiness #ToGatherTogether

Indigenous Business Month co-founders are proud to share this year’s theme in what is the 9th year of Indigenous Business Month, an important year that requires us: To Gather, Together Gathering is at the heart of building relationships. We gather to seek solace, to seek feedback, to find information and inspiration and to generate friendship and connection. By gathering together, we challenge ourselves to broaden our minds, think anew, brainstorm solutions and act differently for better futures. It is in the spaces we create when we gather, that we connect and uplift one another in times of pressure and stress. Strengthening our Indigenous business sector requires strong relationships at a local level, through gathering and exploring the crossovers between what’s happening in our businesses, in the community and in our personal lives. A rich tapestry of connections, information, ideas, and opportunities are woven each and every time we gather. Therefore, in October 2023, Indigenous Business Month calls upon communities and Indigenous businesses To Gather, Together Read more on the Indigenous Business Month website: https://lnkd.in/g_CwVSJ5 ID: In the centre of the tile the 2023 theme design is three circles where where the lines of the circle are an illustration of and aerial view of human figures with their arms stretched out reaching out to each other.
