Homebound

Residents of the city of Cleveland who are unable to visit the library due to age or disability (short-term or long-term) can have library materials delivered to their home by UPS through Cleveland Public Library’s Homebound Services.

The service is administered through the Literature Department at Cleveland Public Library.

Materials

Homebound Services patrons can request any materials that are held by Cleveland Public Library’s Main Library and its branches: fiction and non-fiction books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs, and more. Materials cannot be requested from other CLEVNET libraries.

Homebound Services patrons may request materials in several ways:

  • They may place their own holds using the Cleveland Public Library online catalog.
  • They may contact Homebound Services at 216-623-7005 and speak with a staff member.
  • They may provide a list of materials with their returns. A form is provided for ease of use.

All materials requested will be delivered directly to patrons’ residences by UPS at no charge.

Homebound Services patrons will receive US Postal Service return postage labels with their materials to return them in the packages in which they arrive. Simply place the US Postal Service labels on the packages, seal them with tape, and place them in the regular mail.

In unique circumstances (e.g. issues with a patron’s postal service), patrons with the service may contact Homebound Services at 216-623-7005 to request pick up by UPS. Staff will schedule a UPS pick-up. This doesn’t require any return label on the patron’s part.

PLEASE NOTE: Once a person is signed up for Homebound Services, they will not be able to check out materials in-person from their local CPL branch.
