Ahead of the 15th edition of the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup taking place in Spain and the Netherlands (1-17 July), we’re conducting a series of exclusive interviews with the participating teams. Today: Eunbi Cheon (KOR).

Korea is a very regular participant in the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup, having played the last eight editions consecutively. How do you achieve so much regularity?

Team Korea is practicing every day and putting so much effort in it. We are trying to show our growth and that's probably the reason why we are participating regularly in the World Cup.

2018 was a little less successful than the previous editions. How can you explain this and what will you correct to get a better result this time?

In 2018, we had players injured. But now we are very prepared, we’re all ready to go, so at the moment we are very confident about being able to show our best.

Your team qualified through the Asia Cup earlier this year, finishing second (beating India in the semi-final, amongst others). You were crowned best goalscorer of the tournament. How much confidence does such a performance give to your team?

Every individual performance is related to the teamwork. I believe my efforts gave confidence to our players.

What are your expectations as a team for the upcoming World Cup?

As you know, we couldn't show our best at the last edition of the World Cup, so we are looking forward to having a better performance this time.

You’re in a group with Argentina, Canada and Spain. How do you look at each of these teams?

It will not be easy for us, but we will all try to get the first place in the Pool.

Do you have any message which you would like to give to your fans?

We will try our best for the fans in Korea. We are really looking forward to seeing our friends’ support.
