I often don’t feel connected to the world around me. I’m so lost in thought that I forget my body and exist somewhere else entirely. The world feels strange and unreal and I walk through it like I’m dreaming. These experiences with dissociation form the lens through which I look at the world and my own work.

My work exists of recognizable elements from daily life, pop-culture or the collective memory. I create works that play with those associations. I’m not trying to tell a story, however. By taking my visual interests out of their context I remove all narrative and traces of time. I place them next to other elements that, at first glance, have nothing to do with each other. I break the associations I’ve created and attempt to create a feeling of alienation. These feelings of alienation and dissociation have always been a throughline in my work.

I graduated in 2020 from the Maastricht Institute of Arts.
