The Beginnings of Animation With George Eastman Museum: Crafting a Thaumatrope (Virtual Yelp Event)

What/Why:

****THIS EVENT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON JUNE 30th****

Join Yelp Rochester and George Eastman Museum for a lunch break craft for the whole family - with a hint of history! We'll be guided through the creation of a thaumatrope, an optical toy that demonstrates the persistence of vision and was an important precursor to current animation standards. Plan to craft this cool tool, and hear some words from George Eastman Museum about the history of animation, the museum's current offerings, and much more!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
+ Piece of cardboard
+ Piece of paper
+ Pencil
+ Scissors
+ Glue or tape
+ Hole punch
+ String
+ Crayons, markers, or pencils to create design
