Abortion activist Jen Gunter peddles herself as a medical expert.
An OB-GYN, her writings have appeared in prominent publications such as the New York Times, and pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood frequently feature her as a guest speaker.
But Gunter really is just a pro-abortion propagandist who pushes crazy notions that attempt to hide what abortion really is, the killing of a unique, living human being. For example, she claims an unborn baby’s heartbeat isn’t really a heartbeat. It’s “fetal pole cardiac activity.”
This week, Gunter slammed a pro-life congresswoman for raising awareness about the dangers of abortion drugs.
The leftist Huffington Post summarized her comments under the headline, “If You Think Abortion’s Bad, Try Childbirth, Jen Gunter Tells U.S. Politician.”
U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko’s comments and Gunter’s response revolve around abortion activists pressuring the Food and Drug Administration to drop safety regulations on the abortion drug mifepristone and allow it to be mailed to women without ever seeing a doctor.

“Radical abortion lobbyists have called for removing restrictions on chemical abortion pills, allowing women to take high-risk drugs alone without medical care,” the Arizona lawmaker wrote Monday on Twitter. “It’s time to face the facts: the abortion industry doesn’t care about women. #prolife”
Lesko listed the risks, including intense pain, excessive bleeding, infection and death.
She said de-regulating abortions may be “cost-effective for the abortion industry,” but it will be “costly for the lives of women and children.”
Gunter responded by calling the congresswoman either “incredible [sic] uninformed or a liar.” She claimed the risks that Lesko mentioned are more true of childbirth than abortion. At another point, she also claimed Tylenol and Viagra are more dangerous than abortion drugs.

The pain of labour … is comparable to the amputation of a finger, which Gunter pointed out by citing an excerpt from a joint statement of the American Congress of OB/GYNs and The American Society of Anesthesiologists. Not exactly a picnic. …
The next charge, excessive bleeding, is true in part. The abortion pill expels the contents of the uterus — so yes, people who take it can expect to bleed.
But again, bleeding is also a big part of having a baby. “Pregnancy isn’t coming out of a uterus without blood, be it abortion, miscarriage, vaginal delivery or C-section,” Gunter said.
The “abortions are safer than childbirth” claim is one that pro-lifers have been successfully refuting for years with studies and data. Abortions are not safe for women, and the abortion industry has a history of failing to report complications. Even if abortions were safe for women, which they are not, they are always deadly for the unborn child, a unique, living human being.
Comparing childbirth to abortion is nonsensical because one involves bringing a valuable human child into the world and another involves destroying that child’s life. If anyone should know this, it’s a medical doctor – especially an OB-GYN.
