Texas abortion law will create vigilante system, Biden warns

President Biden has called a new law limiting abortions to the first six weeks of pregnancy in Texas “un-American” and a form of “vigilante” justice for the way that it encourages members of the public to enforce the restrictions.

Biden, the second Catholic president of the US who attends Mass every week, added that he disagreed with those who believe that life begins at conception, but said that he respected their views. The Catholic church teaches that life starts and is sacred from the moment of conception. Biden was already facing calls to be banned from receiving communion because of his campaign pledge to codify the right to abortion in law.
