Abortion is a safe way to end pregnancy. There are two kinds of abortion in the U.S. — in-clinic abortion and the abortion pill. Some Planned Parenthood health centers provide one or both kinds of abortion.

Abortion is very common. Nearly 1 in 4 women in the U.S. will have an abortion by the time they’re 45 years old.

The decision to have an abortion is very personal, and only you can decide what’s best for you. But we’re here to help answer whatever questions you may have, and make sure you get the care you need.

Get Care

Your local Planned Parenthood health center has compassionate, professional staff who can give you accurate information, non-judgmental support, and expert health care — no matter what you decide to do about your pregnancy.

We offer services in:

  • Pregnancy testing
  • Pregnancy dating (ultrasound)
  • Abortion referral
  • Abortion pill (Medication abortion)
  • In-clinic abortion (Procedure)
  • Sedation options
  • Other abortion services

In some states abortion is completely banned or only allowed very early in pregnancy. But abortion is still legal in many states, and it's legal to travel to a different state to get an abortion. Abortion is NOT banned nationwide.

You can find more information about laws in your state and how to get an abortion from your local Planned Parenthood health center or abortionfinder.org.

If you’re under 18, some states require you to tell your parent or guardian that you’re getting an abortion, or get their permission to have an abortion. However, you may be able to ask a judge to excuse you from these requirements. Learn more about parental consent for abortion.
