New England Farmer Microgrants Program

The New England Farmer Microgrants Program

Providing Direct Support to Farmers in New England

Launched in 2020, the New England Farmer Microgrants Program (NEFMP) provides direct financial support to farmers across New England. Now in its fifth year, the program continues to address key barriers faced by New England farmers: access to land, farm succession and land transfer planning, and adopting regenerative agriculture or soil health practices on livestock operations.

Since its founding, NEFMP has awarded just over $2 million to 351 farmers across New England and is 100% donor funded.

About the 2024 NEFMP

In 2024, NEFMP consisted of two separate funding opportunities: the Western New England Regenerative Livestock Farming grants (RLF) and the Farmland Access, Succession, and Transfer Support grants (FAST). Both grant opportunities were open to prior NEFMP awardees.

The New England Farmer Microgrants Program is one of American Farmland Trust’s grant programs providing direct financial support to farmers. To see other grant opportunities through American Farmland Trust, visit our Grantmaking page.
